The Chynn is Still a Dick

Jun 30, 2010 22:51

I know I said I was tired in my last post but I wanted to post this one last thing before I turned in, and that was to say that yes, people.

King Chynn, aka Varian Wrynn, is still a dick.

This is evident by this Cataclysm screenshot, an image of the courtyard in Stormwind Keep.

I'm having a mental image of people of Stormwind tearing down the Chynn statue the way the Iraqis did with that famous statue of Saddam. Heh. Tacky, but amusing.

Anyway, yes, that's just arrogant of him. What about Bolvar, indeed? What about Varian's father? What about Lothar? There are plenty of heroes more deserving of that honor. Unless...maybe this is a memorial, and Wrynn kicks the bucket, leaving the kingdom in Anduin's young but wise hands! I doubt it, but that'd be nice... ;)

Could happen if Varian makes enough bad decisions while fighting Garrosh and Deathwing. He's already shown on at least a few occasions that he performs poorly as a leader when he's blood is up, so if Garrosh and DW somehow manage to agrivate him enough, he just might start to slip.

And slippy leaders sometimes tend to anger their people. Dubya proved that pretty easily, yes? ;D

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Blizzard's writing is circling the drain.  They've run out of good ideas of their own (and, rather disturbingly, started ignoring or silencing good ideas from the player base) and have moved on to the half-assed ones.

That tends to happen when you let guys like Richard Knaak write some of your lore for you. It gets stagnant and stale and eventually rots.

I'm interested in how they're going to handle this fiction writer's contest they have up now. Are they planning to incorperate the story of the winner into lore? I kind of doubt it. More likely it's just something to entertain the player base and create some incentive for creativity. :-/

I don't think they did anything with it last time.  Then again, the winner of last year's was a Lor'themar slice-of-life.

This was my entry from last year.  I'm considering entering again this year, possibly with something about trolls this time; however, I'm beginning to suspect that they only want to hear about elves.
