This is an odd question so I apologize in advance but what types of dresses are appropriate for the workplace? Anyone willing to show pics gets extra points...

I just did a couple quick Google image searches there. Basically, anything conservative will be ok. Make sure it goes below your knees.

Anything that comes down below your knees that doesn't show cleavage. I've never worn a dress to work but I wear skirts frequently. Depending on what ages you're teaching, though, pants might be better (for younger kids, go with pants). My boss lets me wear shorts/capris to work as long as they are below the knee. You should ask your boss if you're not sure.

I brought all my professional-looking dresses with me and can hardly wear any of them due to the no-no-sleeves rule. I could get away with it if I kept my suit jacket on all day but... meh. Curse you and your stupid conservative business style, Japan!
