I did kind of the same thing you did when I studied in Japan. I took a two month course through GEOS, and by the end I got a little paper that said I completed the course. I ended up loosing the paper, so I didn't have "proof", so I left that part blank. I did, however, mention in my essay that I went abroad to Japan in college and lived there for two months. I think it's important to say that you lived and experienced another country and its culture for a short while. That way, they know you can handle living in Japan.
What they mean by "study abroad" in that section is formal university-level study abroad schemes, like the European ERASMUS scheme, a partner university exchange or study abroad scholarship type of thing, for which you would have a university transcript. What you did was a study holiday, and is great - write about it in the same section you write all about the international experience you have, and mention it in your essay.

Oh awesome! Yeah, I didn't want to leave out that I had studied abroad because it was an awesome experience. That's a good idea. Thank you!

Hahah, thanks. I actually found the image on a t-shirt when I was in Kyoto. It was too hilarious not to get a picture of. XD
