Huh. Seems that LJ cut off the original post title, which was "The word hurricane is derived from the name of a native Caribbean Amerindian storm god, Huracan, via Spanish huracán." Yay subject length limits...
Also, just to say, I've really appreciated your entries -- full of information that's partly inside and partly outside my circle of read journals, together with some great righteous outrage.
Ditto here for the appreciation. The three of us are keeping my friends page full of exciting information (as I have myself friended, and my own entries show there, and it's ... yeah).
I should really be posting a lot more, but .. I just can't. I don't know what else to say, and then when I think about saying it, somebody else has already done it for me, so that's all right. The reason I did the post you linked to up there is that I felt I had a story nobody else could tell. I'm not complaining, mind you -- it saves me a lot of work!
Also, Jude, on a somewhat unrelated note, whenever you boxquote things, the text automatically goes to black. I use black-and-gray-with-white-text Generator view on my friendspage, and this means that anything you put in a box disappears into the background. I mean, this is way down on your list of priorities, but if you ever get it to a point where it doesn't force text colour, I'd appreciate the added readability.
Thank You...briar_witchSeptember 5 2005, 00:27:48 UTC
I’ll second what folk said about appreciating your entries on Katrina.
Thank you for all your work in posting so much about the aftermath of the hurricane. I can’t say I’ve enjoyed reading it because it’s so depressing, enraging, and horrific, but I’m glad to see it being posted, glad to see all the links. This way, people can learn more about what’s been going on.

NP about the forced text color, I've just corrected that. :-)
