Yay! Don't worry, everyone's freaked in the beginning even if they're just taking a few classes at the community college (like me). You will do great. All you have to do is keep reminding yourself that you can do it till it sinks in that you can. :)
I work at a college and see this all the time. New students come in, confused, unsure and prone to panic. After about 2 weeks, they act like they own the place. You'll make new friends too, people who are going through the same feelings as you are right now.
Also, the ones I see get the most confidence and skill out of our programs here? The ones who bust their ass making sure they're getting their money's worth.
Jess, you're gonna be great. :D Welcome to the team.
You've worked in a restaurant, which means you know how to keep calm when everyone else is losing their shit and you know how to wash your hands properly. Just between you and me, that's 90% of nursing right there. The rest is just learning what not to put where and making sure you check people's notes before you give 'em drugs, or common sense. :D
Oh, and making beds. You're gonna make a looootttta beds.
I'm nearly done with my BN. Anything you wanna know, hit me up.

What if you can't do it? Fuck that, you can. If you can't, try harder.
Is that how you spell it? It's an accepted spelling, yeah.
What if you are a terrible nurse? Then use that as motivation to be a more awesome nurse.
What if you just plain can't pass school? It happens, but if you really want to, I bet you can.
Maybe you only hate people at your current job? Possibly. And perhaps you'll get to love people as a nurse.
What if someone dies? Hell, everyone dies.
How are you going to pay for this? Same way I pay my mortgage; prostitute myself out at 3 am. Er, I mean, take out loans.
In sum: rock out with your cock out. Also, file everything under A for Awesome.
