I don't think Disney/Pixar did a very good job with the advertising for it, which is why I wasn't interested in it and didn't think it was gonna be any good until reading your post. It reminded me of a Super Bowl commercial - you laughed but didn't know what the product was they were selling. They didn't really hint at the story at all so I was like "What the heck is this movie supposed to be about? Does it even have a plot?!" At least with Wall-E, you had an inkling as to what it was about, or at least I did -
