Her first smile. The first time she pulled herself up to stand on wobbly legs only to fall back down again. Her first words. Those are the times that haunt him.
Every time he falls into the realms of sleep she’s there with his eyes and his not quite blond, not quite brown hair.
In this place he isn’t the last centurion or the nurse, he is the father that pins her pictures on the fridge.
And in the first few minutes of waking she’s real, she’s the warmth that has snuck into his and Amy’s bed during the night.
