Eighteen weeks in, twenty-two weeks to go. Andy took a deep breath as she and Tucker pulled into the OB/GYN's office and gave him a smile of excitement

Don't doctors offices have afternoon appointments? And who the hell did she just say she was? Andrea Jones? Tucker's mind isn't exactly moving like a well oiled machine, for a moment he simply glances at her and wonders what she's talking about.
He is excited about the appointment. He got up with the alarm and did not try to turn the alarm off. He made it to the shower, got himself dressed and was in the car ready to go on time. Of course, he's not sure if he's said anything. "Andrea Jones?" Okay, now he's said something and smiled slightly.
Sitting down with her, he absentmindedly lifts a magazine and starts leafing through. "What the hell?" Now he's spoken twice as he focuses on the magazine but can't get perspective on some photograph of a baby in utero. Some parenting magazine that he actually flips upside down to see if that will help him figure out what he's looking at.
The receptionist looks at him like she's not sure if he needs some help when he repeats his wife's name and then gives Andy a sweet smile before directing them to the chairs.
"I know it's early, but you do know who you married, right?" She's teasing him because she can as she fills out the paperwork that the woman gave her, then glances over to see what Tucker's looking at. Giving a small snicker when she sees him trying to make heads or tails of the magazine, she marks off some family history, then current history, then looks over to adjust the photo for him. "Like that."
"I know who I married - Andy Williams," he smiles slightly and narrows his eyes at the image in the magazine. Andy turns it right side up and unconvinced he turns it sideways so the baby (if he could get perspective) is sitting on it's butt.
"Yeah, this is confusing," he admits and sets the magazine down and rubs his forehead with the heel of his hand.
"I read some place that on that thing-a-majiggy," apparently he has limited vocabulary this early in the morning, "the sound we hear is you and not the baby." Well, he read that it's the whoosh whoosh of the cord blood. "And that a faster heart beat means a girl." Hah, well - one of those things might be scientifically correct, even if not at all clearly articulated.
"Ah, but Andy Williams is only Andy Williams when she's not out and about in public," she tells him as she watches him flip the magazine on its side again. "Everyone else knows me as Andy Jones or, in a place like this, Andrea."
She tries to follow what he's saying and her confusion shows on her face as she does. "Right. Well--" And the nurse calls her name. Andrea Jones. "That's me. Let's go see if our baby has a fast heartbeat."
There's blood pressure taking and weight taking and pee in a cup doing and then she's sitting in the room with Tucker, looking down on him from the bed she's sitting on.
He is. He's making fun of her. He's making fun of her and Lily's helping.
Andy narrows her eyes, but he's saved from any actual wrath by more hugging and then she has to excuse herself because bathroom. She hands over the photo and smiles herself into said restroom before she makes a mess. Then she washes her face, washes her hands and goes back out to find food.
Tucker is more smiling over the fact that he's already set up a college fund.
"Violet says she needs protein," Tucker is sitting at the counter were some guests sit that offers a view into the kitchen. Well, the front kitchen. "I'll have a coffee," Tucker adds.
"Yeah, it is kind of early for you," Eliza add and offers him a cup of coffee.
Where Andy's from, parents actually have to put forth the effort into saving for their kids college funds; they don't have the money long before one (or two!) of them come around.
Andy joins Tucker at the counter, lifting herself into one of the chairs and then smiles at the sight of the kitchen. "One of everything," she says, really only half joking. "Seriously, protein? If it wasn't just after noon, I'd ask for the biggest steak you have." A pause. "What do you have?"
Marnie smiles, "we have a steak bigger than you can eat," she hazards. Though, who knows.
"We also have fried chicken that's the special for the day, burgers any way you might want one, pulled pork barbecue that melts in your mouth ..." Marnie continues.
"You're kind of small," Eliza says with a smile sizing Andy up. Tucker's sisters are tall, toward 5'8, and Lily and Violet might be described as slender.
She repeats it because he can't have just forgotten it exists, right? Or he's messing with her, which she realizes when he mentions a new car. Which they don't need two of. Seriously, no. No, Tucker, no.
Andy adores the car he gave her, mostly because she's never quite going to get over the fact that he asked her what her dream car was and then made it appear like a magic, wish-granting genie. That will forever tickle her mind. She loves it. She loves him for doing it.
Two new cars for the babies? Will blow her mind. "Wait, you want to get another car?" She's not even thinking SUV.
"I'm thinking I'll move the Viper and the Mustang," he offers, "seriously, the Rio is running great," and it is, because Tucker has seen to that, "but I barely fit," he allows and isn't talking of taking the Rio or even talking trash about the Rio (well, save for it's small for him).
The Jeep SRT8. "Something where my knees aren't against the steering wheel," he exaggerates. Okay, not really.
Tuckers family has taken off in conversation in other directions and are barely listening to this exchange. There might be a hint of a smile as they feel pretty certain that Tucker thought of a car within moments of hearing Andy was pregnant.
"A Jeep," he offers. "I was thinking about the new Jeep. I was looking at car seats ..."
"The Mustang?" It comes out before she means it to, but really? They almost had sex on that car on her first trip to Nashville. He let her drive it and she loves it. A lot. "Why do you have to move two cars for one new car?"
And yes, she rolls her eyes when he mentions his knees against the steering wheel because it's not quite that bad. And then she sighs when he mentions the Jeep.
"You mean you've already made up your mind about the new Jeep." Followed by, "Let's just sell the Rio. It's clearly not going to get any use ever again."
They've had sex and almost had sex on just about every surface vertical, horizontal, and otherwise in the house (and outside of the house). Hence, the twins.
"Selling the Rio is up to you," he offers and is completely genuine with that. "It's easy to move cars around between the garage at the house and at the track." That's plural actually, he has garages at the house and at the track. Jesus, Tucker. That's a lot of damn cars. But, they all mean something to him, they are all sentimental. As will this Jeep be. He will keep this Jeep probably as long as he's kept the pick up truck of his dad's.
"Will you eat some more?" Tucker is looking at her with that devouring gaze again like she's getting sexier in front of his eyes. Funny how that works - fertility.
"When we get home," she corrects him gently, "I'm going to call my mom. Then my sisters. Then I'm going to eat something and take a nap. Maybe tonight we can look for mommy things online."
Because after talking to her mom and her sisters, she'll be ready to nibble on something and then she'll be really tired. And he'll probably have ordered two nurseries full of things. She's sure of it.
Tucker is going to go internet shopping for Andy. He liked the mommy shirt from race day and some of the other things she's been wearing to accommodate her changing figure. He's probably also going to end up with some lotions (he's perhaps on more safe ground here, his sisters gave him a recommendation).
"You mean I can find mommy things in last weekends race footage?" he makes fun of himself as he drives home. Their neighborhood is not too far and he's pulling into their driveway fairly soon.
"You know you don't have to go shopping for me," she says, sliding her hand over his thigh as he pulls the car into the driveway. "I mean, you have a tendency to go a little overboard when you think about things you want to get."
She's sitting in a gift he got her. Though, she has to admit that he has impeccable taste and she's never not loved a thing he's gotten her. "But if you're taking requests?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," BIG smile. And he's moving around and opening her door to hand her out of the car.
"I'm taking requests ..." he says and kisses her as she stands. Again, he's confused as to what part of her to touch first - her hips? Her legs? Her ass? Her middle. Oh, sheeesh.
You know, part of the reason Andy waited as long as she did to tell him about being pregnant was because she knew he was going to have a hard time waiting nine whole months to see the product of his, uh... labors. Knowing that their are two in there and that he has to wait another four and a half months or so is probably going to kill him if he starts thinking too hard about it.
"I'm glad he's finally getting back in the game," she tells him, settling back again, though her eyes start roaming over Tucker's face with the kind of concentration usually reserved for case notes. "Once they're ready, I'll go anywhere with you and wear nothing at all."
"I know, I'm just that kind of guy ..." Tucker smiles, perfectly at home with her teasing.
"I'll even sunblock the extra curves on you," he says with a smile and reaches across her to hand her one of the bottles of water he brought back with him.
"I think you need more of everything," he allows and is wondering what exactly that means. "I should have asked the doctor about what we should be doing differently."
