Eighteen weeks in, twenty-two weeks to go. Andy took a deep breath as she and Tucker pulled into the OB/GYN's office and gave him a smile of excitement

She repeats it because he can't have just forgotten it exists, right? Or he's messing with her, which she realizes when he mentions a new car. Which they don't need two of. Seriously, no. No, Tucker, no.
Andy adores the car he gave her, mostly because she's never quite going to get over the fact that he asked her what her dream car was and then made it appear like a magic, wish-granting genie. That will forever tickle her mind. She loves it. She loves him for doing it.
Two new cars for the babies? Will blow her mind. "Wait, you want to get another car?" She's not even thinking SUV.
"I'm thinking I'll move the Viper and the Mustang," he offers, "seriously, the Rio is running great," and it is, because Tucker has seen to that, "but I barely fit," he allows and isn't talking of taking the Rio or even talking trash about the Rio (well, save for it's small for him).
The Jeep SRT8. "Something where my knees aren't against the steering wheel," he exaggerates. Okay, not really.
Tuckers family has taken off in conversation in other directions and are barely listening to this exchange. There might be a hint of a smile as they feel pretty certain that Tucker thought of a car within moments of hearing Andy was pregnant.
"A Jeep," he offers. "I was thinking about the new Jeep. I was looking at car seats ..."
"The Mustang?" It comes out before she means it to, but really? They almost had sex on that car on her first trip to Nashville. He let her drive it and she loves it. A lot. "Why do you have to move two cars for one new car?"
And yes, she rolls her eyes when he mentions his knees against the steering wheel because it's not quite that bad. And then she sighs when he mentions the Jeep.
"You mean you've already made up your mind about the new Jeep." Followed by, "Let's just sell the Rio. It's clearly not going to get any use ever again."
They've had sex and almost had sex on just about every surface vertical, horizontal, and otherwise in the house (and outside of the house). Hence, the twins.
"Selling the Rio is up to you," he offers and is completely genuine with that. "It's easy to move cars around between the garage at the house and at the track." That's plural actually, he has garages at the house and at the track. Jesus, Tucker. That's a lot of damn cars. But, they all mean something to him, they are all sentimental. As will this Jeep be. He will keep this Jeep probably as long as he's kept the pick up truck of his dad's.
"Will you eat some more?" Tucker is looking at her with that devouring gaze again like she's getting sexier in front of his eyes. Funny how that works - fertility.
"Then take the Rio to the track," she counter-offers, because it's going to get less use than anything he has.
And really, she can't believe they're just talking about cars like shoes and right in front of his family. Sure, they're not listening, but still.
"I'm eating," she says, taking another deliberate bite, just for him. But the way he's looking at her? It makes her skin heat up and a flush appear on her cheeks. "Are you done?"
"Am I done looking at you? ... no," he says simply and leans forward to kiss her softly.
"We can work out what goes where, we've got some time," besides, the Jeep he wants in the color that he wants (Garnet) is not on the lot, they have to order that in for them.
Suddenly, it doesn't matter who's sitting right there because that smile, the way he talks to her, the way he casually leans close and kisses her? Andy smiles softly when he does it and is kind of left in a dreamy state of just looking at him when he pulls back.
They're so ridiculously in love that people are probably sick of watching them interact.
"Plenty of time," she agrees, then takes another bite of her steak, her cheeks still pink from the intimacy of his kiss.
His family is kind of oblivious to watching them interact. Same as his family just takes Tucker as a whole and does not seem to part and parcel him out. His sisters worry for him sometimes, though not as much in this past year.
His thumb print to her cheek, "I would like the Jeep in garnet," he articulates what he was thinking before. Those babies better not come early. Actually, those babies better not come that early because Tucker would come undone with worry for his wife and babies.
Most everyone is done with lunch and plates are getting cleared and drinks are getting refreshed. Some nieces and nephews make it by, Tucker ends up getting hugged from behind with lots of congratulations Uncle Tucker and Aunt Andy.
She wonders if the reason he wants the Jeep in garnet is because their babies will be born in January and decides to confirm her suspicions by asking, "Why garnet?"
Of course, anyone trying to take her plate before she's done with it is met with a fierce (no, not really) look and all the nieces and nephews get smiles and thank yous. And then, just as suddenly as she was ravenous, she's exhausted and she hides a yawn behind her hand, then props her chin in it as she rests her elbow on the table to watch everyone else talk.
"The babies are due in January," Tucker replies easily.
He enjoys the swirl of energy and activity from his family. He always has, which is why in as much as he spends a good portion of his life on the road he's always maintained his house in Nashville.
Andy's going to fall asleep across the table while he talks trash with all ages of the Jones clan. People are talking about names for the babies, which makes Tucker smile.
"You're wife is falling asleep," Clara says none to softly with a kick to Tucker. "She needs rests ... growing people is a lot of work."
Maybe not so much asleep asleep, but she's definitely got a dreamy smile on her face as she watches her new family laugh and talk and be family-like, much like her own would at a Sunday dinner. Except it's the middle of the day and they've carved out the corner of the diner for themselves. She loves it.
She hears Clara talk to Tucker and she lifts her chin to widen her grin at them both. "I'm just listening. I know he likes being here."
"I think he likes being here because he has you here," Clara allows. Though, Tucker does love being with his family, "this is the longest stretch he's been in Nashville for a while," she continues with a smile as she looks at Tucker. "We all thank you for that," she confides.
Meanwhile, Tucker is patiently listening to one of his nieces talking with him about losing her tooth. It's actually a little gory and Tucker might wince a little, especially when she presents him with the place where the tooth once was.
Yeah, he's going to be a champ when Andy's bringing those babies into the world.
Looking over at Tucker, watching the way he interacts with his young niece, Andy smiles to herself while nodding at Clara.
"I'd be anywhere he needed to be," she confesses. "But you're welcome. He's kind of my everything now, and I'm still not even sure how it happened over a week in Hawaii. He just kind of... did."
And the look on her face as she stares at him shows that she's not at all broken up over it. She is seriously in love with him and it's not going to stop any time soon.
"He's not going to want to be anyplace save for here," Clara replies, "especially when the babies come," she muses over that for a moment wondering how that's going to go. Strictly speaking, Tucker by no means has to spend as much time on the road as he spends (spent).
Funny how history can sometimes be revisionist. At any rate, Tucker believe Andy sent him back to the mainland thinking him to be a fun fling. Indeed, he did lean toward flings.
"He came back from Hawaii having met someone," Clara reveals, "though, he's never really talked much about that kind of thing. He lived with that one girl when he was in his twenties and that was kind of the last we had view of until he brought you home to Nashville."
Andy wonders how that's going to go when the team is out of town and he's out of town and she's not. For the time being, though, she nods.
And since there was a good three months from when he came back from Hawaii and when she came back from Hawaii, she wonders a little how he reconciled the idea that he wasn't going to see her again.
"I'm glad he did. I can't imagine being without him now."
How is that going to go? Not very well in the first few months. Tucker is going to be hugely distracted about going and likely minimize the time away. Of course, when on the track, his brain is entirely at the track. When at home, babies keep all kinds of odd hours, as does Tucker. They're going to get held and rocked to the sounds of cars.
It's really not difficult to imagine how Tucker reconciles things. He travels, he works, he ...
"You let us know if you need anything. I remember being so tired, and I only ever carried one at a time."
She repeats it because he can't have just forgotten it exists, right? Or he's messing with her, which she realizes when he mentions a new car. Which they don't need two of. Seriously, no. No, Tucker, no.
