Cathy and I, while watching ST:TNG, realized something very exciting. The episode is the first time that we get to see what Geordi sees- the chaotic swirl of information. Now you just need an iPhone app that lets you scan and identify biological and technological specifics about objects within a few kilometers of your position, analyze atmospheric composition, and project simplistic intangible holographic images! Oh, and include a faster-than-light transmitter with a communicable unassisted operative range of 80,000 km and related homing beacon. 0=) Then the iPhone will totally beat the Tricorder Mk VIII.

I don't own an iPhone, so no. =P I would completely justify the expense if I had an internet browser with holographic projection and the ability to slice my foes into ribbons.
