Drabble for Lost_in_108: ART THERAPY

Nov 02, 2009 23:47

For prompt #6 (monster) at lost_in_108. This is very rushed and not at all to my liking, but the idea has been in my head for a long time, so let's just look at this as a sketch for a longer fic, what do you say? Oh yeah, and the prompt is very, very subtle!

ART THERAPYDesmond found the colored chalk a week after Kelvin died. He lost himself the art, his ( Read more... )

I loved this! I love the idea Des drew the mural. I'd love to have a copy of that mural some day.

Wow, that was quick! Glad you like the drabble ~ it's a concept I've been thinking about for a while. All I've got to do now is make it a full-blown fic!

Yeah, I'm always on the computer when I'm home lol

Does it have to be a fic? It works well as a drabble.

Nice, darlin'. I can very easily imagine Desmond doing something like this after finding those chalks, something that seems totally within his character to me. What a great idea for a fic even, if you do that. (it works quite well as a drabble too)

(where's that drawing from?)

GAK! It ends so abruptly and out of character of the drabble itself ~ needs to be a ficlet...has been a ficlet in my head. Maybe now that it's seen the light of day it can thrive?

The pic is actually of the drawing in the hatch! I think I've read that Jack Bender drew it. The inspiration for this "ficlet-to-be" came when I really started looking at it one day. There's a rocket! (or is it a hydrogen bomb?) And houses turned willy-nilly and numbers and dead people and stuff. Like a reflection of what has happened on the island? Maybe?

Whoooooooooo knows?? That aside, thanks for reading and commenting and wondering and for telling me not to eat poo-pie! ♥

Oh DUH me! Hey... it's early... sort of... and I just got up... kinda...
Okay, I'm just dumb. I knew I've seen that before.
*iz a wee bit embarrassed*

Well dear, if it needs to be a ficlet then a ficlet it shall be.
You can do eet. ♥

Do you really need me to tell you not to eat poo-pie??
How about weevils?

ohhh, I like the idea of escapism by art, as you might know (something I do myself!) and it's true that it's pretty much the faces that change the whole mural mood... cool!

Escapism art - yep, you and me both, although most recently it's been escapism knitting, but wth? I remember Des confessing to Widmore during their first awful meeting that he wasn't an actor with the Royal Shakespeare Company, but rather a set designer, so I recon he had himself some artistic ability of some note.

The more you look at that mural (and the more of the Lost story that we get) the more you see in it. Kinda cool, huh?

Thanks for dropping by, darlin'!

Oh, Des! I love the idea that he drew the mural (something I had never thought of before). It seems so fitting for him to use art as a means of escape. And I love the ending, it's so haunting. Wonderful work!

Thank you so very much! I'd like to explore this story further in the future - expand it and smooth it out a bit, so I'm glad to hear it is an interesting concept. Remember when Des met Widmore, and he said he had been a set designer for the Royal Shakespeare Company? Yep, that's about how long this idea has been in my head!

Wonderfully done, imho, dearest Gypsy!
So visual...I could just "see" a dusty, disheveled Desmond enraptured by this process!
Like you, Des as the creator of that mural has crossed my mind so often, with that same scene from Widmore's office as the impetus. I'd LOVE to see this evolve into a ficlet! (nudge, nudge...hee!)

Thanks dear Mumsy! Now that I've got the "rough sketch" I might just revisit it again ~ I do have the entire month of challenge writing ahead of me, you know!
