i hate the whole "what if there's someone better?" mentality so many guys have. either you like being with me or you don't, and if you do, there's no point in fucking up a good thing because someone "better" *might* come along. a real man has the balls to say "i want to be with you, period, and if someone better happens to come along i will just tell them they're too late."

Well, as I mentioned, I did feel rather silly since it was just me being insecure about it. Sure, I did have a few solid reasons to be bothered by it, but it was just me being a bit insecure at the time. I just had to vent out what I was feeling last night, that's all. It's cool now. Relationships are imperfect--while it might seem there are better people out there, the realities of a relationship will erase any sense that a person is "perfect."

Yeah, generally "better" people do come along, but the sense that they're "better" is usually related to that whole "grass is always greener" mentality if you're both happy/without serious problems. And like person-I-don't-know-above-me said, if you're both happy, what the fuck does it matter? Anyone stupid enough to chase after unobtainable perfection when they have a good thing going deserves to crash and burn.

However, some guys use the "what if someone better comes along" routine because they're afraid of the same thing happening with the girl.
