Remix based on thoroughlynerdy's fic "We've Waited Too Long"

Title: Before Too Long
Rating: PG
Group/Pairing: Ohno/Nino, Aiba/Jun
Notes: When I read the original story, I thought that while Nino was on the periphery of the main action, he is a check and a catalyst for much of the action. I was also intrigued by his comment to Jun about how he knew that honesty was best, and what experiences might be behind that ( Read more... )

pairing: aiba masaki/matsumoto jun, author: waxrose, pairing: ninomiya kazunari/ohno satoshi, rating: pg, original author: thoroughlynerdy, cycle: eight, group: arashi

WHY IS NINO'S POV ALWAYS SO FREAKING AWESOME? lol, he ALWAYS steals the show. <3

I like how you wrote it in his POV that he was actually kind of going through the same thing. And just like Jun and Aiba, he and Ohno were in the same boat. I really liked that.

AND SHO AND NINO FRIENDSHIP IS THE BEST. SO MUCH LOVE.

Awesome remix, thank you so much!

He's difficult to write - but always worth it. I am an intense sucker for Sho/Nino bff-ery, and the original delighted me with the potential for that! Thank you for reading! ♥

This is wonderful! I love how it feels like such a natural extension and companion to what I wrote!

I love how you put this is Nino's point of view- I'm not sure what I imagoned for Nino's own experience, but this was absolutely perfect. The same sense of hesitation that Jun was feeling was present with Nino as well, but for entirley different reasons. The dynamic between his and Ohno's relationship was handled beautifully and I like that even though the piece was short, you covered a lot of ground emotionally and nothing felt rushed at all. Nino's struggle to be honest, and finally the confrontation on Ohno's doorstep, especially this line, I'm about two seconds away from throwing up on your floor felt SO Nino it was ridiculous since that seems to be his choice way to relieve tension and just get everything back on even ground again. I love his unexpected remarks ( ... )

I'm so glad that you liked this! When I read the original, there were these hints with Nino, and I was wondering what you had intended.

Are you over on DW at all? I'm not on LJ much at all anymore, but we should hang out. ♥

What I love best (aside from almost the whole story, but let's pretend I have to pick one thing XD), is the sense of awkwardness that is constantly overlapping with the sense of deep familiarity between the guys! The original was great but you offer glimpses of the periphery that we can't see in it! :) You portray Arashi with repeated hints of both yet nothing is actually awkward; everything is familiar in its own Arashi way. AND YOUR NINO IS <3333!

I'm really glad that came off! I love how they interact, how they mesh together. It seems natural, but there's a lot of stuff underneath that. [/ICEBERG METAPHOR] Thank you for reading! ♥

this is one of my favourites to come out of this cycle, and like, my favourite type of fic in general. i love the idea of how they're slightly out of sync, how often they narrowly miss and then things don't work out. like when ohno shows up on nino's doorstep when he isn't ready. but it never blows up and they just keep going and sort of trying and eventually maybe get it. it's wonderful. nino's unhelpfulness with sho was also adorable and endearing, and honestly the whole nino/ohno scene where nino is the one showing up instead is just. perfect. and this line - "For you too, then?" Jun asks, his voice a little softer now, more unsure. "You and Leader - that's it, isn't it? I had wondered." - is touching and kind of gorgeous. the direction in which you took this from the honesty comment, with the symmetry between the two relationships and the things left unsaid, was pretty amazing.

OF COURSE YOU DID. :D I feel like Ohmiya is so...I don't know? I feel like I'm trying to avoid falling into cliche potholes every time that I write it, so I'm glad that this sort of worked. Thank you, as always, bb. ♥ ♥ ♥
