Reaping the rewards of April showers

Whee, gardening's been taking up a lot of my weekend time lately, as expected this time of year, I suppose! And unlike the past couple of years, it's not raining every weekend in such a way as to prevent getting work done.

Today I bring roses, and a curious guest.

You make me long for when I had lawn space of my own. Had a night-blooming garden in the works. After I left for school my parents tore most of it up and put in a fountain. Not a big fan of roses, but some of these are indeed attractive flowers.

Awww, that sucks about your night-blooming garden :( I enjoy roses, but I prefer hybrids with interesting colors... unfortunately, they never seem to fare as well as the old red/magenta/pink standards. :P I like big showy flowers, I guess -- my other loves are peonies and the ridiculously huge dahlias I have in the late summer/early fall. XD And big, weird clematis.

I've had no luck getting ipomea alba to grow over our porch here, either, and the few patches I'd found on fence rows around our neighborhood have been torn out. So... ::shrugs:: I'm more of a practical gardener aside from certain specific interests.

We have a relatively large rose garden at our arboretum--not encyclopedic, but well laid out and pleasant nonetheless. I will take some pictures next time I'm out that way, if you like.

Eeee, moonflowers ♥ We can get morning glories to grow here no problem, but I've never tried those... Practical gardening? Does that imply foodstuffs?

That sounds lovely, but I wouldn't ask ya to take pictures for just my sake. ^^; (If you'd be doing so for yourself, though, well, that's cool ;D)

And ugh, squirrels. I hate those damn things after they tore the ac unit in my car all to shit and filled every nook inside under the hood with nuts. *shakes fist*
