I would definitely call that a nightmare. What tips it over the line, for me, is the inability to communicate/refusal to listen.

I think there were two reasons that it didn't quite cross the line for me:

1) I couldn't seen any of the injuries very clearly.
2) The folks refusing to help were doing so for purely selfish reasons, not because of anything I did or failed to do.

Oh, indeed; that'd get it out of nightmare-land for me too.

And now I'm idly wondering where the line falls for more people than us, and whether it varies by gender, culture, age...too bad I don't know any grad students in need of a thesis.

That would be an interesting study to do. :)

Sooner or later, I'll get back to school and get my sociology degree...

Gee, it sounds like what we've been through on long Island lately. There are so many people hurting so badly and still not everyone will help with even simple tasks. My court reporter today still has no heat in his home. He was warming himself at work.

IYDMMA, where are you? I'm in one of the less damaged parts of Smithtown. I can't believe how lucky we were.

Howdy neighbor! I'm in Huntington Station- actually not a HORRIBLE place to be since we lost power only for about a week. My parents/grandparents were without power even longer. I'm in the process of replacing our roof now, since we lost a good portion of it during the storm, but otherwise the house did ok- all of our large tree branches wound up on the lawn and the fence, but not the house :)

Oh! Not too far away at all! I'm glad it wasn't worse, although a new roof is plenty bad enough.

Yuck. Good to wake from that sort of helplessness feeling.

Yeah. Like I said, it wasn't quite an all-out nightmare, but I was glad to wake up.
