Gee, it sounds like what we've been through on long Island lately. There are so many people hurting so badly and still not everyone will help with even simple tasks. My court reporter today still has no heat in his home. He was warming himself at work.

IYDMMA, where are you? I'm in one of the less damaged parts of Smithtown. I can't believe how lucky we were.

Howdy neighbor! I'm in Huntington Station- actually not a HORRIBLE place to be since we lost power only for about a week. My parents/grandparents were without power even longer. I'm in the process of replacing our roof now, since we lost a good portion of it during the storm, but otherwise the house did ok- all of our large tree branches wound up on the lawn and the fence, but not the house :)

Oh! Not too far away at all! I'm glad it wasn't worse, although a new roof is plenty bad enough.

Nope- Smithtown is just one town over from me! It's always nice to find local people on LJ. Most of my friends are from so many places all over the world, and few of them live nearby.

I'm still getting used to being a Long Guylander...I've been here for not quite a year and a half. I love it!!!

I keep hearing about it on the news, and it's hard to believe how useless the power companies are being.
