I think that's rude! If you want to give a gift (like if you know them and like them), you should give what you want or what they need (again, if you know them, you know what they need - luggage or something).

I think people are just getting ruder and ruder and feel they're entitled to stuff all the time. That's why I love bunnies!

I know...like it would have been one thing if the "invitation" had said that they were older and well established and therefore did not need any gifts....but to go on and tell everyone to bring money for the money tree....well.....that's just rude.

I honestly think they are being smart considering they are elderly, but inviting someone you don't know much leads to say they have no feelings 'cause I wouldn't ask just anyone in an invitation to bring money to my doorstep. So yeah. Maybe they should have made two invitations and if they really wanted to invite you, to send the one where it says that gifts are optional, they just want your presence. *shrug* Asking for stuff has never been my thing tho, so I don't see myself encouraging to print such an invitation in the first place.

Yeah...my whole department was like "who are these people?"...none of us have ever even met them, the fliers just showed up on our desk telling us about the money tree...

I guess I jsut found it kind of presumptuous.

Money trees are so tacky! Especially if you don't know the people.
