Looking out my window from my living room sofa, the G'town library is a city block (or less) away. Every Sunday a large group of motorcycles, mostly Harleys, meets there and goes rolling out in a big thundering bunch. This has been going on for some time and I've often wondered who they are and what the deal is. I really liked the idea that that ( Read more... )

I bought my house here in 2001. I work in Temple so it's close enough to work without being too far away from Austin.

Also, I could actually afford to buy a house here (unlike Austin). My late 1800's house here was $125K vs. I'm sure it would be 400K in Hyde Park. Nonsense!

If intolerance is one of the things that "high minded" Christians blather at us, how can we join them with the same kind of attitude. The peacemakers are tolerant, joyful, and loving. The others need therapy that no scooter can be a part of. Even moving will find you back where you started...

Look for good things. Look for joy.

As for Gtown being a dull place. So go join the throng that wants to be cool like everybody else. I like trying to be a beacon in the midst of so much dullness. Perhaps a light of modern thinking, a cool beam.

However, some places take more work than others to create interest. Given my emotional shortcomings and the resulting lack of energy, I don't have what it takes to join the (non-)throng right now. I have a hard enough time synchronizing schedules with my friend Jef who lives a mile away or connecting with my ultra-cool next-door neighbor ( ... )
