With some fuss, I figured out there is some order of "install Photoshop" and "install scanner software" I'm not doing correctly--to get any kind of scan, I ended up having to get the old scanner back out AND install the PaintShop Photo Pro X3* I purchased to vaguely legitimize my use of PaintShop Pro Obsolete. Why I liked my backup drive was it imaged my drive 100% so I wouldn't have to worry about did I copy all my sound files from the Windows Media folder [as I had forgotten in the past and no longer care about since I stopped putting sound schemes to my computer but THE PRINCIPLE STANDS].

GIR got an Acer [same as mine, I'm pretty sure], then he decided it wasn't worth the hassle and traded up.
