Just got the results of my blood work: pretty okay. Was stupid and didn't think to schedule my follow-up... that's what I get for being hungry >_< I asked if there was a way to see what my blood type was from it, he said, "No, there's no point... [I think there's potential with CC, but it would have to be SERIOUSLY redone. Like, stop pretending they're exactly people in mouse/rat/cockroach/pigeon shape and writing bad Looney Tunes scripts].

I remember watching the first episode of Capital Critters... then went back to watching Simpsons. XD
Yeah it was really awful with it's subject matter. Nuts.

The whole message of the MLP episode was that judging people because they're different is bad, it's the classic "don't judge a book by it's cover" example (which is even done literally in the episode with an herbal remedies book in Twilight's library).
The whole episode is "don't be a racist, yo", I didn't really see class anywhere in it at all.

This is from the point of view of someone whose eyes are calibrated for that sort of thing. Why a ZEBRA? Further, a VOODOO zebra who spoke in rhyme? Couldn't it have been a polar bear that played hopscotch or flamingo with a limp or other non-racial analogue? Why something almost but not quite a pony that acts like a stereotyped black person? THAT is the point.

Again per the examples: Shirt Tales didn't have that flagrant division. Wuzzles didn't. Get-Along Gang didn't. They used all animals interchangeably, and any stereotypes were within that species vs. representing actual people.

Why NOT a zebra? Since the main species on the show are horses, a zebra would be like an exotic horse, so it seems to fit the pattern better than a polar bear or flamingo.
Why would a zebra be analogous to a black person? Do black people talk in rhyme and practice voodoo? O_o?

It may be that Spike is calibrated to the point of oversensitivity--I have very few other such friends who would view the division in that respect--but it seems that if someone sees something as divisive [if not necessarily offensive], especially from the point of view of someone who has grown up being told she is a second-class citizen based on her skin colour, then that shouldn't just be brushed off as something that isn't there ( ... )
