So I already am not sure about this year on a coupla counts--par for the course with any fresh start, I think, despite my regular interest in them--but at least I can say I did not make a pact with the other co-owner of my business to kill ourselves in our hotel room after losing our four million dollar lawsuit ( Read more... )

I do in fact recognize that drawing a comic would get me an audience more easily than writing a million books. I'm just not at that point yet. [This is part of what the silhouettes project is doing, as a foundation.]

Also--and I might be ripping off an advice column or two in saying so--it's easier to make and have friends when younger, because kids tend to be herded together. Adults are a much wider age range, experience range, and interest range--besides range of location--so convening is a much more difficult task, even when only considering the childless of adults. I recognize this, too... I just don't know what to do with it.

And, uh... I actually still have ideas for continuing MLCS... but I think my main sadness is that the main point is suffering, and there's only the one payback [standard "villain gets his/her due in the end" thing]. Sucks when the revenge doesn't measure up... =/

Books can net you a very large audience as well, but I think it's a different kind of audience. Like... doing a web comic is instant gratification as people can instantly go online, read it, and then discuss it on a messageboard there. With books, I usually don't see the immediate gathering online (Unless you're on online publisher?) as a webite for a book is laid out differently. It has a message board, but there's no constant update like a comic would have.

I hope that analogy made sense?

I remember the old Yerf days too. I didn't immediately migrate after it went away, and really most of the people I hung out with then aren't around anymore. They're like me, rarely online due to having jobs, kids, and other things getting in the way of being able to be up late on an irc room or something ^^; You are one of the few friends I regularly hear from, mostly due to LJ.
I'm only just recently migrating out to those DA/FA/AS sites. Mostly to just promote links to my webcomic. :3 ...which doesn't update much anymore. D'ohh!

Yeah, you're pretty much my only reader here these days =p [or, the only one who 'fesses up to it]

FWIW, I do recognize that I'm failing to reach my target market audience, but some of that is laziness--I'm not invested in success enough to advertise correctly [by which I'm going back to the "don't want to be famous" thing and my unwillingness to pay for it in time and money]. Had I joined a book club online equivalent back in the day, vs. a furry art community, I might be writing very different things now in a number of respects =/

Yeah, I'm guilty of that laziness too. I just don't invest myself hard enough to publish anything yet, but I don't mind the fame. But it's okay, we both still have some years left so it's not over for either of us. :) We just need to apply our skills more efficiently.
i.e. be less lazy. XD
