I opened my keyless entry thing for my car and disconnected the panic button because various things in my pocket would hit it periodically. Since I did that, haven't had a problem with it.

Yeah, I never remembered to do that, 'cause I always had something more pressing to do once I actually got home--in fact, I still need to remember to get a new battery for it--but it's like me telling you just don't buy Full Screen movies; as seemingly trivial as it is, there's something bigger here I'm talking about than just fixing the one problem in my keyless entry.
