2300: Devil Inside

I think the Madman followed me from Betrayal, because I've been going bonkers again... possibly from "Easy Breezy" :p Maybe there's a devil (or something like it) inside of me ( Read more... )

Interesting thought about the dog, but I don't think it would have helped you in that situation.. the dog wouldn't be able to use the dynamite; it would just drop the dynamite on the floor, and then another explorer (hero) could pick it up. You yourself would have to throw the dynamite, and in lieu of a standard attack. (Though yeah, it probably would have been good to use it before the game ended!)

Where the dog would be really useful is if you stole key items (the spear) from other players... the dog could then run the spear into the Pentagram Chamber, drop it off, and then no hero could pick it up again without, you know, dying. =.) More likely, you would want the spear yourself, but if there was another item being problematic... I dunno. That's the only real use I can think of, since the dog can't carry the shadows around... =.p

I am working on a home-made version of Ca$h'n Gun$ (actual title) that we can play sometime when you guys are over again, provided I've finished it... there's a lot less luck involved in that game.

Actually, I just had another thought about how to possibly win that scenario: you could attack the shadows yourself. It seems counter-intuitive, but if a shadow is so far away from the goal that it looks like it won't get there, attacking it to stun it is a reasonable idea, since a stunned shadow causes its hero counterpart to lose 1 speed... do that enough, and the hero dies without you ever needing to attack him/her yourself. That might have been a better approach to handling the shadows on the upper level... look at who has the least speed, and try to finish him/her off that way?

Well, the problems with that:
- I was in the basement
- I had a piddly speed of 3

There wasn't a way to, say, light the dynamite and hand it to the Dog? Surely it had a long enough fuse to do that... T_T What are the exact instructions for the dynamite? Wait--*Google*--argh, can't find posted instructions for the card :p

Hey, this is interesting [Did you have this? It sounds like a lot of stuff you told us]:"Attic, Graveyard, Junk Room, Pentagram Chamber -- If you fail your roll, can you choose to stay in the room and try again on your next turn instead of taking damage?
Yes."
Of course,Can monsters use the Secret Stairs, Secret Passage, Revolving Wall, and Mystic Slide to move around?Yes. It's their house, after all. (Besides, it's possible for these to create areas of the house that can't be reached any other way, and some scenarios won't work if monsters can't reach all rooms.) Ignore the section of the rules that states, "unless those cards state that only explorers can use them." Also, a monster wouldn't need to roll to use the ( ... )

The specific instructions for the dynamite say that you have teo use it yourself in lieu of an attack, so no, you can't give it to the dog and have him run it around...

The reason why you couldn't use the Secret Stairs is because the haunt scenario instructions specifically forbade Shadows from using them... =.) Check the scenario handbooks, also available on that site, for more info.
