2264.2: Name

Dec 30, 2006 11:49

My happiest day was when I discovered a naming convention for my medieval realms. It was so simple but unintuitive. Even happier was when I figured out the name of the realms as a whole [like "Middle Earth" or "Narnia"], because it was even less intuitive but still fit the naming convention.

A shame that Google will uncover where the provincial names come from, if the more obvious two don't give it away. I don't really want to creatively edit the names like with Dragonball Z, though, if the names are fine enough as they are--I basically had to alter the world's name, but the others are perfect as they are. I'm mostly annoyed that it destroys some of the mystique if the sources become obvious instead of, "That's an interesting name. I wonder how she arrived at it?"

Of course, I suppose that's my own fault for adhering to actual existing words instead of scrambling letters into incomprehensible gibberish like most fantasy stuff =p[quote I can't find who said it, paraphrased]
To create a fantasy name, slam your hands across the keyboard. That name will already have been taken.

I'm actually [FINALLY] in between a drawing and writing mood. As figures, it's almost bedtime X/ so... I'm procrastinating, of course 9_9
