Out of curiosity, how did she start calling herself Scout's godmother? Did she come up with it as a quip, and does she ever refer to Scout as her god-dog?

you could have a god-bunny or whatever but if your issue is with use of the god- prefix, then do you say 'oh my god' or 'good god'? i know someone who does and she says 'oh my tian' instead which irritates the shit out of me.

And yeah, that's the thing: I have heard people refer to themselves as a godmother not in the Christian sense before and it never struck me as odd (e.g. in the context of being Scout's fairy godmother), but my issue is rather with referring a dog as your 'god-dog'. I think there must be a reason why even though you and her both refer to her as Scout's godmother, neither of you have ever referred to Scout as her god-dog.
