This morning public schools were delayed by 2 hours which meant preschool was delayed one hour which meant I didn't get to go to yoga. Furthermore, I was an idiot and it didn't even occur to me that school might have been delayed or cancelled until I got there and the parking lot was empty! Waaa. Does one have to be "writerly" to have a blog or LJ?

Well, a little bit at least, because a large part of it consists of writing. So you need to be a person for whom writing is a comfortable means of communication. But I don't think it requires a person to be "writerly" in the sense of wanting to write professionally, or anything like that.

And the senate failed to pass the Patriot Act.

Define "comfortable". Well, I guess that's partly a question for *me*. Thinking about whether I am comfortable with writing.... Well, yes and no. Yes, in that I've been on mailing lists, Usenet, and now am on LJ (which to me is much easier than trying to maintain a personal website). No, in that I can get pretty insecure about my ability to write clearly.

jelazakazone, how about turning the question around: Do you consider everyone on your LJ readinglist to be writerly?

I did the same darn thing! drove all the way to school, its... locked.. I didnt hang around, well i tried to, but by 9:30 I had nothing left to do and headed home. Blah.

what parenting books are you ankle deep in and I would love a review of those! heehee.. it's my obsession of the moment, if you hadn't noticed. ;)

Oh, and I keep a LJ not because I consider myself "writerly" in the sense that I am an author of novels, stories, etc or wish to be an author. I keep a LJ because I find writing about things to be much easier to do than talking about them. LJ is a big long rambly email to myself. Rather like talking to myself.. only silently. I guess that makes me a little eccentric. :P

Snow, Ice in Va=delays

I can guarantee you, that no matter how insignificant the snow and ice, public schools either close or are delayed. We had barely an inch last Friday morning, and public schools were on a two hour delay, which meant the g-man's preschool was cancelled, as his is only three hours long.

I've learned here that if snow or ice is called for, you check the news starting before you go to bed. It's crazy here.
