There weren't enough women, but the main female (gaah, forgot her name - forgot EVERYONE'S name honestly) got her own plotline. I would have liked to have seen her help Eggsy in the end.
I had a problem with the scene in the church. We could see that Eggsy was horrified, but the music and the fact that Colin Firth's facial expression was neutral throughout made it less horrifying than it should have been. I recently saw Chappie, which got super-horrifying for me in parts, and I wish that Kingsman had just a dollop of that.
It felt to me that the moment they said "yes, we really expected you to shoot the dog" the whole thing went off the rails. The exploding heads montage was just morally horrific for me and the ridiculous ass-fucking coda...where do I even start. The idea that this is making goo-gobs of money and my beloved Jupiter Ascending tanked makes me weep for humanity.
I do have to admit that a good dollop of Merlin/Eggsy could have saved it for me.
I had several issues with the film. The dog shooting was definitely one of them. The ass fucking thing at the end? What the hell was that? The church scene. The exploding heads was so over the top, it was obviously farce. I think that's probably true with the church scene too. They had a really good balance for a lot of it and I admire them for pushing the limits, but yeah, there were a few elements that felt off to me too. Dog scene included.
Also, I totally thought that not shooting the dog was the right answer.
The fireworks and exploding heads with the music was just so over the top, how could you not laugh? But I am not a fan of violence, so, you know...
Yeah, I figured that they would show not shooting the dog was right because they had to think for themselves too. *sigh* Well, movies can't be perfect, can they? I mean, no story is, really.
The fact that the movie didn't take itself too seriously (including all the hidden hints for fans) is exactly what I liked about the movie. And a Colin Firth who actually can pull off a fight scene. OMG! That was absolutely great!:) I had so much fun with the movie but more in a generell way. My shipper heart didn't slow faster. But I can still see where you're coming from.

If the church scene had been any more horrific, I'd have had to leave. I don't know Chappie.
Thanks for dropping by!

The ass fucking coda was absolutely horrific. I don't even know why that was in there. It stuck out like a sore thumb.
:D :D I have a need for Merlin/Eggsy and now I want crossover from my beloved fandom.
I cannot wait to see Jupiter Ascending now. Thanks for the comment!

COLIN FIRTH. He can do anything. <3 So great.
It was a lot of fun for me too. I was shocked to be hit with any shipping. It happened in the last five minutes of the movie.
