Kingsman, where's the meta???
Ok, going to do a little write up of Kingsman, which is incredibly violent, but also does not take itself seriously AT ALL.
Spoilers ahead:
How much did I love that the code names were taken from the Arthurian Legends? SO MUCH.
The terror of overpopulation had me taking deep breaths. It's a primal fear for me. Like Star Wars was back in the 80s.
God, all the nods to movie canon were fabulous. The movie is steeped in references to Bond and other movies. The Matrix too, I think.
I liked that the cast was somewhat diverse. Could have had more than three women. Gazelle didn't have much of a personality and I didn't even know her name until the end of the movie. Roxi was awesome. Eggsy was great. I thought not shooting the dog was the right answer and Eggsy had shown himself to be a bit of a rebel, which turned out to be good.
I am shipping Merlin and Eggsy pretty hard right now. Tell me I'm not the only one?
Messages from the movie: people can not play God and win, nothing is EVER free.
I'm sure there is more that I missed.
And I have now run out of brain.
ETA: would someone be willing to write me a Merlin/Kingsman crossover? Because I think I need it.
