Oh, bits and bobs

First of all, if anyone of you knew about Erika Linder and didn't tell me, you are fired. Just go check her out on Tumblr. Here, have a little incentive.

Erika Linder is GORGEOUS, she looks more like a young Leo DiCaprio than he ever did. ;P

I'm looking forward to Halt and Catch Fire, it'll be nice to see Lee Pace on my screen again (I might even unblock his tag on TS once the show airs). Also a show set in the 80s? Right up my alley (even though it's the US 80s, but then I watched many 80s US shows as a kid). #showingmyagehere

Thanks for linking to the Maciej Cegłowski talk earlier on Twitter, I loved listening to it. I'm a happy pinboard customer and listening to him felt like he truly 'gets' us. :D
Awesome people, the world needs more like these (unlike a certain well known Irish TV moderator who mocked fandom at large and certain artists/writers in particular on national UK television last Friday - in the presence of the actors said fics and art were about :( Not cool!).

Ugh. It's unfair how gorgeous Erika Linder is, but I'm happy to see a woman portraying both men and women instead of the usual men portraying women and women being left out.

EEEEE. I don't even care about spoilers. I just want it all NOW. :D I didn't watch any shows in the 80s because we had no tv. I mean, I watched some stuff at my friends' houses, but nothing regularly. But I grew up in the 80s (showing my age:)).

Exactly. Maciej Ceglowski isn't one of us, but he appreciates and admires us. He gets that we aren't monolithic too, which I hugely appreciate.

Graham Norton can go [comment redacted]. <3

Not long ago I read an article about models like her, so many gorgeous people, I didn't know where to look first! *_*

My country has a history of mainly importing US TV shows (and dubbing them *shudders*), basically I grew up on watching very few shows produced in Germany and many, many US shows. They usually aired with a delay of at least a year (because of the dubbing) but little!me didn't care about that much back then. It only became relevant when Buffy started airing on German TV in the late 90s and I read on the internet (that had just become affordable for 'regular' people \0/) that more episodes had already aired on US TV. That was the day I bought an NTSC format-compatible video player (yep, those were the days *fistpump*), ordered US Buffy video cassettes online (! there was no Amazon back then, but a devoted fan shop in Southern Germany that imported US videos, action figures, foreign magazines etc) and printed scripts from all episodes so I would understand/translate what was said in English (consider it a rudimental form ( ... )

Oooh, more? *grabby hands*

Wow, I had no idea. It's awesome that you were able to get your hands on stuff when you wanted to.

Well, it seems like Maciej is a fan of fans :D I love that he gets fandom can be a place of fun and/or security and that fans really do connect and form real relationships. I believe you know my feelings on fandom. :D I have more nuanced (read: ambivalent) feelings about fandom due to Merlin breaking my heart, but not about the people in fandom or my experience with it. Giving myself over to a show like that is not likely to happen any time soon or to that depth again. But I do love the squee, the collaboration, the geeking out that is possible in fandom. It's helped me be much happier and to stand up for myself.

I think I'm just babbling here. I'm so sleepy.

I'm at work right now, so no tumblr for me :(

A Pulsar quilt sounds interesting.
I'm looking for a design for a wedding quilt wall hanging right now. Any suggestions?
I'm tempted by this but it's quite a bit of work with the small squares and - as awful as it sounds - I'm not sure if I want to invest so much work into a present for people which are only aquaintances (and not close friends).

Check out the tumblr stuff later. It will still be there.

I was wondering what sort of quilty things you were up to. Pinwheels are very easy, actually. I'm happy to brainstorm quick quilt ideas. You know split rail fence?

Japp, I know. For a quick quilt rail fences are great. It should be a wedding wall hanging and I thought it would be great if I had something that symbolizes both parties and that they're intertwined now (maybe two different colors). But (double) wedding rings are too complicated (because circles!). I'm not sure how I could do this with rail fences. Plus it wouldn't look too spectacular as a wallhanging, wouldn't it?

What about something like Double Irish Chain? It looks fussy, but I think you could strip piece it pretty quick!

I've seen her picture before, but don't really know anything about her

thanks for the heads-up on the new Lee Pace thing, I thought it was a movie or something, but I will definitely be watching it as soon as I can get hold of it. (i'll listen to that link a bit later when I've time, its always great to see nice things being said about fandoms)

Agreed. She has such an intriguing look.

Every time I see that community mentioned I read it as "I'm a deathing" rather than "I made a thing." I don't know what a deathing might be--"deathling," as in mini grim reaper? "a-deathing," as in actively dying?--but for some reason my brain just wants to parse it that way.

Yep. Me too! However, I don't care. I'm making a thing! :D

Ahaha yay! Make a thing! Don't be a deathing! Choose quilting! :D
