First of all, if anyone of you knew about Erika Linder and didn't tell me, you are fired. Just go check her out on Tumblr. Here, have a little incentive.

Not long ago I read an article about models like her, so many gorgeous people, I didn't know where to look first! *_*

My country has a history of mainly importing US TV shows (and dubbing them *shudders*), basically I grew up on watching very few shows produced in Germany and many, many US shows. They usually aired with a delay of at least a year (because of the dubbing) but little!me didn't care about that much back then. It only became relevant when Buffy started airing on German TV in the late 90s and I read on the internet (that had just become affordable for 'regular' people \0/) that more episodes had already aired on US TV. That was the day I bought an NTSC format-compatible video player (yep, those were the days *fistpump*), ordered US Buffy video cassettes online (! there was no Amazon back then, but a devoted fan shop in Southern Germany that imported US videos, action figures, foreign magazines etc) and printed scripts from all episodes so I would understand/translate what was said in English (consider it a rudimental form of subtitles, it helped me to improve my English massively, though).

I'm so happy that he made an effort to understand us. I don't expect everyone who never heard of fandom before to 'get it' 100% but I wish more people would make an effort. Why is it 'normal' and accepted to be a sports fan, wear jerseys of your favourite team, buy a season ticket to see all their games or hang out with fellow fans for a barbeque but the moment you're fan of a TV series and dare to show more intererest in it than just watching a new episode every week - like 'talk' to likeminded people on the internet about it and/or do something silly as reading or writing stories about it - you're a ridiculous person? A loner with no real life? A pervert with interest in dubious sexual practices? A [insert negative connotation here]?

Oooh, more? *grabby hands*

Wow, I had no idea. It's awesome that you were able to get your hands on stuff when you wanted to.

Well, it seems like Maciej is a fan of fans :D I love that he gets fandom can be a place of fun and/or security and that fans really do connect and form real relationships. I believe you know my feelings on fandom. :D I have more nuanced (read: ambivalent) feelings about fandom due to Merlin breaking my heart, but not about the people in fandom or my experience with it. Giving myself over to a show like that is not likely to happen any time soon or to that depth again. But I do love the squee, the collaboration, the geeking out that is possible in fandom. It's helped me be much happier and to stand up for myself.

I think I'm just babbling here. I'm so sleepy.
