Was it Monday

Mar 19, 2014 16:57

Today I woke up an hour late. Off to an amazing start... I raced around, got everyone ready and left the house at 8:35, barely getting the kids to school on time, but getting me to my workshop on time. Quilting class was from 9-3. I was pretty fried by 1.  The teacher told us what we could do with the "fabric" we made, but my brain was starting to ( Read more... )

I must have pressed the snooze button an egregious amount of times! I have no idea what happened. We are still not adjusted to DST. It's ridiculous.

So, this is top stitched, which is different from curved piecing and wAAAAAAYYYY easier. God, it was deliciously easy. Expect to see more curves. Want a dragon quilt, by the way? I'm thinking about doing a red dragon....

Word. Wordy mcwordy word. I think we need to start a petition. It costs lives. LIVES. It takes me a month to adjust and it will probably take me longer this year given all the snow days we've had (when I am not forced to get up).

It is groovy and gorgeous. I'm really super digging it. Thank you.

Eeeee. Yay! You will have a dragon, my darling. <3 <3

Very pretty. How did you make the points?

If you ever have a chance to take a class with Karen Eckmeir, snap it up! She was awesome.

The points are made the same way as the curves! You cut the shape, turn it under a quarter inch, and top stitch. For the points, you cut a little bit further down to fold the fabric, so you can't make the sides go all the way to the bottom. Did that make sense? I can take closer pictures if you want, and post them in a bit.

Thanks! I cannot wait to play with this more.

That makes sense. I tend to use foundation piecing for points but that doesn't really lend itself to curves.

If you do foundation piecing for points, do you have a seam over the tip of the point?

What was the new technique you learned?

What does DD1 need tutoring for, if you don't mind my being nosy? She always seemed pretty gifted to me, especially given the amount she reads! :)

I overslept an hour on Monday. Given that this gave me and MiniPlu only about 20 mins to get her out the door, it was a miracle we still managed it!

It's hard to tell from this picture, but you cut curves, fold the edges over, pin, and then top stitch down. Then you cut away the back. It's awesome. Plus I learned those points! I can now do a New York Beauty (in a cheaty kind of way!!!).

DD1 is going for "brain training". DH is hoping it will help her focus. He spends hours every night helping her with her homework. Ugh.

Oh dang! That's awesome!!! I have overslept before, but I don't usually have to be somewhere right after dropping the kids off, so I can put off my shower and breakfast in those cases usually. Today was definitely a sprint! LOL.

I'm curious--what time does school begin and end?

Here we start at 8:10am and end at 2:35. So I'm feeling very jealous of not already being late to school at 8:35 :)

We start at 8:40. Monday they get out at 12:50, the rest of the week is 3:20. I'm jealous that you get out so early! I wish we had an earlier start, but 8:10 would be hard. We do live very close to school, which helps. I think the kids were barely on time yesterday and that was driving.
