Oh LEMON. Oh, nostalgia.

Everybody's already explained, so I'll just sit here and reminisce about the late 90s and very early 2000s. I was in...let's see, West Wing fandom? And Harry Potter fandom. And for a hot minute there, the anime language of lemon/lime/yaoi/chan/etc became sort of de rigueur even in non-anime fandoms, particularly on Fanfiction.net and some of the archives so that all my Harry/Snape fic got marked as yaoi chan or some such. And obvs, I was looking for "lemons." I remember searching having to search for a fannish glossary so that I could understand all the fancy words.

Man. I feel old now. That was the exciting time of the internet, where suddenly you could get fanfiction EVERYWHERE and not have to be signed up for a mailing list!!

Ok, if you feel old, just think for a minute how this makes me feel.

Chan! Chan I'd heard. But not lemons:D

See but I think fannish old is different from RL old. And I mostly compare myself to the kiddos on Tumblr who can barely remember the new millennium. I always think of my 19 year old students who were confused by an old article about mailing lists. "Is that like a newsletter?" one asked. *facepalm*

So I say it makes me feel old, but what I actually mean is "experienced" and "superior." Because I'm a little vain like that. :)

*blinks* Ok. Right. I mean, I wasn't into fandom before the internet, but I know that people were mailing zines around and that mailing lists were a huge boon to fandom.

Someone recently told me I wasn't old, and I'm not old, but things happened for me a lot longer ago than for a lot of Merlin fandom. I was madly flirting with a friend at the dance last week who is 30 (which is definitely not young) and I made some comment about , "oh if things had been different and I'd met you 17 years ago .... ewwwwww, you were 13 seventeen years ago. Let's not go there....

This is why I feel old some times.

I know the term as well although it was never used in my part of the fandom. And I think it's not modern anymore to speak about "lemon" or "lime" today. Although the contrary "vanilla" is in use quite frequently I think.

I'm sure you will manage a bingo until the end of october:)

I think Vanilla refers to something else, really. It's more about kink than sex.

If I do four fics and one vic, I should be able to manage by the end of Oct. Or one meta and three fics and a vid.

I always thought that "vanilla" was the opposite of "lemon". Like soft, fluffy feel-good sex instead of hot, passionate, kinky sex.

I'm too lazy to teach myself how to vid. I've never done it before. So right now I stick to things I can and try to vary them as good as possible.

Hm. Maybe someone else can educate us, but to me, they are still flavors of sex, so not really in opposition to each other.

I think maybe my brain is just not working lately.

I have no clue how to vid. Thus I'll be doing one stretchy thing and the rest will be writing so as to make the deadline.

It's in German:( which isn't allowed. I first have to translate it for that...

Does "spelunking" mean "go out to bars and drink"?

Thanks for the ideas... some of them sound interesting. *goesandthinksaboutthem* You're a sweetheart that you took the time for some brainstorming.

Funny enough I never was active in HP fandom until this year. I wrote a secret santa fic and the one I podficced for the "Holding hands" prompt. Any particular pairings you write/wrote in it?

Booo on those people who made the rules. What is wrong with podfic in a foreign language?

LOL! No. But that could be an adventure, with Gwaine. Spelunking is cave exploration.

I have written exactly one drabble (100 words) with Luna/Neville for a friend who has been active in HP fandom for years. That is my favorite pairing, however.

Everything needs to be in English so that they can controle/understand that the fills fill the requirements.

Cave exploration? - But I don't have a kink Bingo! ;P

There's an old german word "Spelunke" which people doesn't use anymore nowadays but which is another word for "pub" or "bar". That's why I thought it could be related.

Luna/Neville &hearts

I love me some Ron/Hermione. Boring because canon but these two are too cute. Neville I love as well.

Grrr. Shakes fists at mods.

Why can't cave exploration just be good old fun?:D

Ha! I see where you got confused. That's funny:D

Ron/Hermione is very cute. Perfect for a fluff card!

Heee! Oh, yeah, I know what a lemon is! :D The very first fandom I ever committed fanfiction in was an anime fandom. In fact, it wasn't until recently that any of my fandoms weren't anime. XD *basks in all the citrus*

Patch! If I'd only known that citrus would bring you out, I would have mentioned them much sooner! Nice to see you:)

Thanks for the memories. So cute!

*pounces* Sorry I haven't been around much. Things kind of went uninspiringly crazy, then Hubby went out of town without me, and now the new semester has started. BUT! I was thinking about fairy tales the other day andwolvesandknottingandthentherewasapregnantMerlin -- but mostly fairy tales. No particular reason, just thought I should mention. XD

Er, well, this might also be a case of the pot calling the kettle black. I may have been posting, but I wasn't mentally here.

So, anyway for fairy tales. Let me know if/when I should look in at your story again:D

Thanks! We stood in line for 45 minutes and did not get close to the front for the water park. *sob* Many tears later, we are over it. I have to figure out if there is another waterpark we could try in the next couple days.

The mini golf this morning was great!
