RIP Robert Jordan

Damn. A second writer in as many weeks (unless my memory is really screwed up). I loved The Wheel of Time books (at least the first four or five). I'm really saddened to hear of his untimely death. (This news was brought to me via kinzel. More info here.

I wonder if the final book was near enough completion that it will be published (perhaps with someone else ghost-writing to polish)? He wasn't all that old, so it is unfortunate, but given that I didn't know him personally or anything what I'm really sad about is if the story doesn't get finished!

Well, it looks like he had a lot going on in the last book and that he did share some thoughts with family members at the end of his life.

I didn't know him personally either, but his books were quite rich and I feel the loss of that acutely. I think he was a very talented writer (even if he, like so many writers today, was in desperate need of an editor).

Did you read any of the books?

Oh gosh yes. I've been reading The Wheel of Time since... *thinks* not the very first, I believe, but probably since around the time the second or third came out. Have 'em all to date in paperback in fact.
