A Case Study of the Structure and Function of the Boytoy

Bandom, R, ~10,300 words. Amanda Fucking Palmer/Mikey Fuckin' Way (+ Mikey/Alicia). Warnings: hardcore consensual objectification, domestic service, sub-sharing, accidental (non-sex-related) injury. Written for bandgirlsbang. Thanks to dear_monday for the beta.

Please check out iamsupernova's art and halfeatenmoon's mix for this fic!

He doesn't just want the depersonalization of being seen as an object, he wants the functionality. It turns him on not only to be used, but to be used for a purpose. )

Thanks! I think we could all use a Mikey once in a while.

It seems rude, somehow, to eavesdrop on evidence of his humanity. This is one of my favorite lines in the fic, although I have a lot (hi, this your usual fanpuddle speaking, wavewave) but I really love how Amanda navigates the manners of owning a person-appliance, how considerate she is of not breaking him out of his scene, but also her seriousness about consent, and later when she begins to really enjoy his little proofs of being into it. And when Mikey gets a cut in the kitchen, the fact that she's not worried about his pain but is genuinely concerned about him in the way he'd want, that's such a great detail, the way her thoughts are reorganizing easily to accommodate the concept. And then the little signs she gives him, like the phone call to Brian, aaahh ( ... )

Okay, so this comment made me really happy. :D :D

The scene with the cut and the glue was probably the hardest scene in this fic to write, because it could have gone silly or unbelievable really easily. I'm still not confident that I pulled it off as well as I wanted to, but it's really good to hear that it worked for you.

It's also awesome to hear that this helped you get objectification kink. It's one of my very favorite kinks, but it can be hard to navigate because of all the social issues surrounding it. It's a heck of a compliment, saying my fic made you want to read more of a kink you weren't previously interested in. I'd give you recs, but it's not done very much in bandom. The only other one I can think of off the top of my head is my own fic "Surprise Toy". Let me know if you find others, I would love to read more of it myself!

I spent more time during the month leading up to the BGBB draft deadline on hypothesis generation and experimental design for Amanda's research than for my own actual research, and research is my ( ... )

Longer fic from you is SUCH treat! I enjoyed the fuck out of this. I'm not a big fan of AFP as a person, but she works for me in this AU and I've been curious about this kink for a while now. Why oh why can't I buy a boy like Mikey in any good appliance stores...

Thank you! I wish I could write longer stuff, my style just doesn't really lend itself to longfic very well.

AFP is complicated, and I can't say I approve of her unequivocally, but she does make things interesting, which makes her a fun character to write.

This was really super cool! I loved the kink and what you did with it and the characters a lot.

(Stress balls really are so useless.)

I loved this. I was a bit hesitant about the being a tool part at first but it sucked me in and now it intrigues me. I want to know more about Mikey and Alicias relationship, how they got to this point and what they are like when Mikey is a person.

Glad you enjoyed it! I didn't go into much detail about Mikey and Alicia's relationship because I wanted this to be more about Amanda figuring things out for herself, but yeah, there's a lot to explore in that sort of a dynamic.
