Hey

Can we all just calm down for a minute and remember that Guns N Roses weren't really all that great to begin with? I mean for every "Patience" and "Sweet Child O'Mine", there was a "Rocket Queen" or some such. Dude, they were only ever better than the other hair metal on MTV at the time. Seriously. They're not the fucking Beatles ( Read more... )

Prince's song 'Cream', on the other hand...

...actually, that was shite too. nevermind.

I'm not sure if I should give Axl props for nabbing Tommy Stintson to be in GnR version 2.0...or if I should be disappointed in Tommy Stintson for agreeing to do it. Then again, if someone wanted to pay me a 6 figure salary every year for the past 7 years to play a total of about a dozen shows, I'd probably do it in a heartbeat too. Lucky bastard.

Without Izzy Stradlin, G'n'R are just an excuse to get a free Dr. Pepper.

I don't like Cream either.

I like like, 3/4ths of two Cream songs and about half of another. the rest is kinda not that great. "Strange Brew" is their best song.

I remember people dissing GnR all the time in the 90s, and I thought, rightfully so. Having more artistic substance than Winger does not a great artist make. Anyway, now the same people are calling them a classic band. What?

I used to have an embarrassing desire for Kip Winger. He was so chest hair-y and none of his shirts seemed to have buttons (or laces) that started any higher than his navel.

I always thought he looked like a cheesy vampire, like an extra from "The Lost Boys".

I have always liked Guns n' Roses and the Cult and I enjoy Rocket Queen so I don't really have anything to change about my attitude since then. I can, however, give or take Faster Pussycat.

Yes, you're the genuine article. What I'm saying is this: if you didn't like then, what's changed now, y'know?

You're right about Cream, but wrong about GnR.
I hated them in the 80's, but about 5 years ago realized that Appetite IS a classic hard rock album. If you like that stuff.

G n' R are the New Order of "Metal".

When they were good, they were great, but they were mostly not that good.

As for Cream, I've always had a soft spot for Tales of Brave Ulysses, but will also readily admit that it's almost exactly the same as all of their other songs.

Yeah, Tales Of Brave Ulysses, White Room, Strange Brew, and the guitar chord break that opens "I'm Free". Other than that, what is there?

I think that's a fairly good analogy for GnR.
