Collected Daniel/Rose drables

Jan 16, 2012 17:05

Title: Various
Author: jedi_of_urth
Fandom: Doctor Who / Stargate SG-1 (some SGA)
Characters/Pairings: Central pairing is Rose Tyler/Daniel Jackson, with appearances by most everyone else
Rating: Nothing above PG-13
Word Count: 2,000 (20 x 100)
Prompt: #63 Summer, as they were written for 100 drabbles of summer (and took me a long to post as their fandom based set)
Summary: A series of drabbles from different points in this crossover world, focusing on Rose/Daniel (more detail on each drabble)
Disclaimer: I don’t own Stargate or Doctor Who
Author's Notes/Warnings: The basis of this crossover headcanon-verse is that “Pete’s World” is the world of Stargate, and sometime after DW’s ‘Doomsday’ Torchwood and the SGC started working together; with Rose, Mickey, and Jake making up the first SG team that actually worked for Torchwood. This happened around the start of SG-1 season 3 and about two-ish years after Doomsday. The story will contain spoilers throughout SG-1 and a bit of SGA towards the end.
My prompt table also contains links to other bits I’ve written for this headcanon

Title: Rain Dance
Summer Prompt #10: rain
Rating: G
Notes/Spoilers: Set mid SG-1 s3 (head)canon. Daniel/Rose fun and bonding.

Daniel stood just under the roof, enjoying the soft, spring rain. His time on Abydos had given him an appreciation of rain that he hadn’t had before, and he hadn’t lost that in the two years since.

He smiled as Rose walked up next to him but before he could say anything she grabbed his wrist. “Come on,” she said with a wild grin, “don’t just stand and watch it.”

Next thing he knew they were spinning and dancing through the raindrops. He felt silly, but so alive; as, even through his fogged glasses, Rose’s smile lit up the world.

Title: Freaky Food
Summer Prompt #68:

Rating: G
Notes/Spoilers: would be mid-s3 SG-1 timeline, but no spoilers outside headcanon, Jack doesn’t like Daniel’s relationship with Rose

Admittedly this was tame next to some of the food they were offered off-world, and admittedly Daniel had nearly always been more willing to sample the local cooking than Jack. Still ever since Daniel had started dating Ms. Tyler he’d thrown himself into that aspect of their missions even more whole-heartedly.

It was going to bite him in the ass eventually, and then Jack could blame it on Tyler. The girl was trouble, and her influence on Daniel was just part of the problem. It just happened to be the one that was most shoved in Jack’s face these days.

Title: Shadows of the Past
Summer Prompt #100: Author's Choice
Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: The issues Daniel and Rose deal with in the beginning of their relationship

When they first found each other, the shadows of their pasts were always there. To love him was to accept Sha’re’s ghost that walked beside him. To love her was to understand that the Doctor wasn’t dead, and part of her might always be looking for a way across dimensions.

At first they were a relationship of four people. The two of them accepted the presence of the shadows with them. And in doing that, they took the first step towards leaving the past behind them. In time it would be a relationship between two people, out of the shadows.

Title: A Tale too Long to Tell
Summer Prompt #92: Author's Choice
Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: ‘Window of Opportunity’ in headcanon

“So, are you going to explain why you’re not affected by this time loop thing?” Jack asked, a bit more calmly than usual, but still with an air of frustration that wasn’t just about their situation.

“I can’t,” Rose said with a sigh. “And I’m not just saying that, I just don’t know.”

“That would be easier to believe if strange stuff didn’t keep happening with you. Or your story made any sort of sense.”

Rose sighed, this was hardly the first time he’d called her on that. But she really didn’t feel like explaining her life story right now.

Title: Was it Ever Over?
Summer Prompt #90: Author's Choice
Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: Headcanon-vere deals with the idea of more cybermen

Daniel had been on a dig in Egypt during the majority of the Cyberman conflict, and it had never touched his life all that much. Not directly, but just about everyone around him now had played large roles in the fight.

Only Teal’c had less personal reaction during the briefing about the NID using off-word tech to try their hand at cybernetics. Daniel remained fairly calm while Jack railed and blustered, Sam was angry and incredulous, and Hammond was barely restraining his own feelings.

The Torchwood team was just stunned, for them the war had been longer and cost more.

Title: The Big Worries
Summer Prompt #95: Author's Choice
Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: early SG-1 s5 (head)canon, Rose’s thoughts pre wedding. Additional note: while it could work with later DW canon it was written for crossoverworld

Jackie worried about little things going wrong with the wedding, what if the band didn’t arrive in time or flowers were wrong. Rose was more worried about the big things that could go wrong, mainly that a group of aliens would choose that moment to attack. It was a perfectly legitimate concern with her track record.

But there was also the matter of one specific alien. What would she do if the Doctor chose the most inconvenient moment to reappear in her life? It could be awkward enough loving two men when one of them wasn’t actually in her life.

Title: Importance
Summer Prompt #15: wedding
Rating: G
Notes/Spoilers: Daniel/Rose wedding fic.

By the time the wedding actually came Daniel had almost lost track of why it had been so important to him in the first place. They could have exchanged their promises months ago and avoided Jackie Tyler’s lavish wedding plans if he hadn’t talked Rose into going through with the full affair.

But when he saw her walking toward him he remembered why it had been so important to him. To stand in front everyone they loved (and everyone else Jackie had invited) and swear that he would be her partner and love all his life, it mattered to him.

Title: Some More
Summer Prompt #56:

Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: SG-1 s5 (head)canon

“Su-more,” Rose drawled, between her accent and the alcohol the word sounded heavy on her tongue. She’d never really had the chance to go Earth camping before, just other worlds without marshmallows, but she was enjoying it so far.

Daniel thought she sounded adorable, and he didn’t think it was just his own tipsy state. He leaned over to kiss her cheek, but she turned so instead he met her lips. They lingered in that moment, enjoying the sweet taste of each other’s mouths before they separated.

“S’more,” she said again, an almost wicked glint in her eye this time.

Title: The Long Night
Summer Prompt #40: solstice
Rating: PG-13
Notes/Spoilers: ‘Meridian’ in crossover world

He was beyond help now, beyond knowing about the world around him, but Rose stayed at his side; watching as his life-signs steadily weakened. Janet said he would be gone by morning; it was the longest night of Rose’s life, and she didn’t want it to end.

She tried to stay strong as long as she could, vowing that she would stay strong as long as he clung to life. Even if he was beyond knowing she didn’t want her tears the last thing he saw before he died. Not that she could hide all the tears that would come.

Title: Not Blowing in the Wind
Summer Prompt #49: breeze
Rating: G
Notes/Spoilers: Headcanon-verse in mid SG-1 season 6, dealing with Daniel being ascended

Rose looked up as a breeze ruffled her hair, but it was just the wind. She couldn’t help being disappointed, even though the chances of Daniel coming around were slim.

Across the room she could see Jack looking at her. They had never really talked about seeing Daniel since his death, but she knew what had happened with Ba’al and he seemed to have figured out that she knew. Which is how they both knew what they each hoped for now, but she had to shake her head no.

Not that Daniel would have helped them even if he did come around.

Title: Knowing the Unknown
Summer Prompt #73:

Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: SG-1 headcanon for end-s6/beginning-s7, Daniel post-falling

Naked and shivering, a man lay among the dirt and shrubs. He didn’t know who he was, how he came to be here, or anything about anything. But his hand reached out into the air, seeking something, someone, he had forgotten.

He saw his own hands almost as though they belonged to a stranger, but he knew he would know those other hands if he ever held them. Even if the strongest shred of memory was the feel as they slipped from his own, and the screaming

He never did know if the screams he remembered were his or hers.

Title: Swear it Again
Prompt #79:

Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: Early s7 SG-1 (head)canon, Daniel’s back, but Rose is missing

Jackie found Daniel where she had expected to, on the back porch swing where he and Rose had spent so much time. She was grateful he was safe, even if she couldn’t entirely deny that part of her resented that he was safe and not Rose.

Still, she sat down next to her son-in-law while he stared out at the setting sun. “I’ll find her Jackie, I swear I will.”

Jackie nodded, knowing he couldn’t promise that as much as either of them wished he could, but she tried to believe him anyway.

Together they watched the stars come out.

Title: An Answer is Not a Solution
Summer Prompt #97: Author's Choice
Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: Mid-SG-1 s7 (head)canon; after finding Rose

“Sir, you do know-”

“Carter, right now I know nothing.”

But he did know what would happen next. It wasn’t as simple as finally finding Rose, they had found her because they came looking for the source behind Anubis’ ability to create super-soldier; they found her.

Whatever Anubis had done to her, however he had used her to create his army, now they had to undo it. She should be allowed to go home, recover from what happened, but it wouldn’t happen.

Rose would understand that saving the galaxy was more important; Jack was less sure Daniel would accept it.

Title: Living Rough
Summer Prompt #42: roughing it
Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: ‘Reckoning’ related in crossover world

They had set Rose up in an opulent flat in Geneva while the negotiations went on, but all she cared about was the talks themselves. The sooner these issues were resolved the sooner she could get back where things were far more interesting.

And soon, even the talks didn’t matter to her. When Jack told her the Replicators had taken Daniel it was all she could do not to scream. She should have been there, fighting beside her family, protecting her husband, not trapped on Earth pleading for peace while out there battles for all of existence were taking place.

Title: Not Enough of Me
Summer Prompt #86: Author's Choice
Rating: G
Notes/Spoilers: late SG-1 s9 (head)canon, Rose is pulled between the needs of others and her own

Rose knew why she stuck with her job, the International Committee needed her voice to keep them focused on the big picture at stake rather than the smaller concerns that they preferred to argue about. She was needed here, but she hated it.

She wanted to have more time with her son, she wanted to live with her husband who was needed on the front lines fighting the Ori, which meant he didn’t even live on the same continent as her. She wanted to be out there beside him, facing this threat together as they had faced so many others.

Title: The Lucky Ones
Summer Prompt #87: Author's Choice
Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: early/mid SG-1 season 10 in crossover world, Vala’s observations

The sight of Daniel and Rose made Vala’s stomach clinch. Even as a goa’uld host she had never experienced the kind of love she saw in every small gesture between them. Tomin had come the closest to loving her that way, and if things had been different…

She envied them the love they shared. At first she had just thought she envied Rose for being Daniel’s wife, but it was them together that made her feel like she was missing out. Real love was only something she understood looking at it, feeling it was an alien concept to her heart.

Title: Daredevils
Summer Prompt #72:

Rating: G
Notes/Spoilers: Jackie reflects on how different her children are from her set late in headcanon-AU

Jackie kept an eye on her sons daring each other to jump off higher and higher steps, ready to step in if they got too much higher. She wondered how she had given birth to three daredevils and could only hope the boys didn’t take it as far as Rose had.

Trevor and Randy may have every advantage Rose had lacked growing up, but they showed early signs of their sister’s drive to jump and reach higher and higher. And when they stumbled they always got up and tried again; Jackie still wasn’t sure where her kids had gotten that.

Title: Reset
Summer Prompt #82: Author's Choice
Rating: PG
Notes/Spoilers: The resolution of “Unending” in headcanon-verse, also being the origin of Catherine Jackson

Catherine fought back tears as she kissed her family goodbye, even though he dad’s cheeks were wet and Sam kept stalling by running though the instructions again.

She could only stare wide eyed as around everything she had ever known was destroyed, only for time to reverse and reality to reform around her.

She kept it together as she carried out Sam’s instructions over the confusion of younger-Sam.

But when she turned and came face to face with her parents, younger, healthy, and happy, she started to cry. Mum was confused, but she still comforted Catherine as if she knew.

Title: As Far as the Eye Can See
Summer Prompt #11: blue skies
Rating: G
Notes/Spoilers: Set in headcanon, SGA s4. Catherine, Daniel and Rose’s time displaced daughter, goes to Atlantis.

Catherine Jackson had not seen sky until she was 28 years old. She’d been born in space and trapped in time to grow up in near isolation. Now she stood near the top of Atlantis looking at the blue of the ocean and sky. Everything seemed to stretch on forever, not caged in by the walls she had known her entire life.

The “alien” nature of the place didn’t trouble her, but the expanse of the city and the wide world around it was very different than what she had known. When she used to dream of sights like this.

Title: Funny Little Family
Summer Prompt #48: family
Rating: G
Notes/Spoilers: Post SG-1 timeframe in headcanon-verse, Jackie reflects on her odd little family

Jackie always felt lucky when her family was all under one roof. Pete still worked longer hours than she would have liked, protecting the world but rarely in danger. Rose and Daniel lived half a world away and spent far too much of their lives in danger for Jackie’s piece of mind.

And then there was Catherine. It was hard to think of her as a granddaughter when she was barely younger than Rose. Trevor and Randy were barely older than Aaron, which was unusual, though in an understandable way.

Catherine may be strange, but that fit with their family.
