I like that their adventures continue, even if we don't get to see them.
This is almost word for word what I said to someone else in discussing the episode. They did the same thing in the last Futurama movie. I'd love to see more, but if this is the end, I'm satisfied. :)
And Lister, oh Lister!. Oh my heart!
RIGHT!? THIS is why he's always been my favorite. Although the only thing that bugged me (other than the predictability of the squid ink explanation, which didn't actually bother me nearly as much as I thought it would) was that Lister's depression was never really explained. I'd assume it had something to do with losing the crew again at the end of Series 8, but I wish we'd been told... DAMN YOU AND YOUR PLOTHOLES, Doug.
Rimmer's always been my favorite, but I have a special spot in my heart for Lister. And I get what you're saying about that plothole; I think they glossed over it too much as well, but I'm willing to give it a pass at the moment since I'm on a post-episode high. After I come down, I know it'll start to bug me as well!

According to Robert Llewellyn they filmed more than was included in the episodes, so we might get a decent explanation yet.
