I have recently learned that small squid can use jet propulsion to propel themselves out of the water and into the air for as far as 60 feet. They do this to escape predators, although sometimes they get eaten by birds while in the air or fall onto the decks of boats

They aren't out to get us. The number of squid killed by humans is WAY greater than the number of humans killed by squid. Orders of magnitude greater.
