What is Jealouss?
Jealouss is a public layout community that began as a graphics community in late 2006.

Why can't I join?
Jealouss is a public community, meaning that the entries are unlocked, therefore there is no need to join the community to see the entries. However, I do recommend that you watch the community for updates and new layouts.

You post other things, not just layouts right?
Yes. I will post moodthemes and music occasionally. While music doesn't need to be credited to me, you must also credit me for my moodthemes and layouts.

What are your rules?
My rules are simple.

1). You must credit me for anything that I personally make, such as a layout or a moodtheme. Music, (if/when it gets posted) does not need to be credited to me, obviously because I didn't make it.
2). DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT change/alter my layouts and then repost the codes as your own, otherwise known as code stealing. This is my most important rule, and you will get banned from the community (and a lot of other communities most likely) if I catch you doing this.

What about when you post your layouts and other items in other communities?
No matter where any of my creations are posted, they are still created by me and I still deserve credit for them. If you ever find any items of mine not posted by me (apologize) or my layout testing journal (customcontent) please alert me immediately via message. I often only post my layouts in this comm, and mintyapple, so you may credit me (apologize), the community (jealouss), or you may link the entry that you found my layout in, but DO NOT just credit mintyapple because there are various layout makers that post in that community and if someone would like to know who made the layout it would be difficult for them to find it since the community is updated by more than just myself. The same rules apply for communities that you find my moodthemes in, you must credit me (apologize) or the community (jealouss). It is best just to do this in all cases of my creations therefore I receive credit and no one has trouble tracing the item back to me or my community.

What do you mean when you say no code stealing? What's that?
Code stealing is when you take the codes from a layout I made, change maybe the font, some colors and some words and voile you've got your own layout. WRONG, in essence, all you did is customize a layout that I made. If you still need further explanation, read this.

Can I customize your layouts?
Absolutely! However, you should note that some of my layouts are not tested or meant, to have sidebars or headers, so keep that in mind if those are some elements you want to have in your layouts. I will not customize the layout for you.

Can I use your layout outside of Livejournal?
Sure, as long as you credit me. And, since my layouts are customized for livejournal specifically I will be unable to help you customize them.

Can I use the images in the layout and not the layout?
Of course, I can't stop you from doing this however you must note whether it was something of my creation it needs to be credited to me. I never make headers for my layouts, however I do use backgrounds from time to time and while I may not have created the background for layout, I still credit it to whoever did, and so should you, if you decide to use it outside of the layout.

Do I have to upload the images?
Depends. I do use tiny icons in my layouts, but those do not need to be uploaded to your own server, but you are more than welcome to do so. As far as moodthemes go, I host all of my moodtheme images on my photobucket account. ATTENTION! As of November 23, 2010 I will no longer be hosting my moodthemes via my photobucket account. I haven't had issues with bandwidth in the past, but now that I am creating more moodthemes I think its best for everyone if they upload them to their own server. I know it is a hassle, but I had to do it too and I guarantee that you will appreciate that more because you won't have the fear of bandwidth exceeding hanging over your head.

I can't see the images in my mood theme anymore, what did I do?
You probably did nothing. The bandwidth was probably used up from people hotlinking, which means that several people take the link(s) and repost them to other places until eventually the bandwidth get exceeded because it can't support hosting the images in so many different places. The only way this can be solved is if you download the .zip file in the entry of the moodtheme and then upload all the moods to your own server. I know its a pain, and time consuming but I had to do it too, and its the only way to ensure that your mood theme won't disappear.

I want to use this moodtheme, but it isn't showing up?
Well, there are a few problems associated with moodthemes. First, you must have a paid account to have a custom moodtheme. If you don't have one, you can buy one. Second, the bandwidth may have run out, so check the question above for more if you think the bandwidth is an issue. Lastly, check to make sure you followed all the steps properly by going back to the entry of the moodtheme and re-doing all the steps. One of the solutions will most likely solve your problem.

Can I use the layout in a community?
Yes, as long as I have credit.

Do you take moodtheme or layout requests?
I haven't in the past, and if I do it will be few and far between. You may make suggestions for layouts or moodthemes in the permanent suggestion entry.

I want to customize my layout, can you help me?
No. I am a college student, I work part-time, and I participate in several campus organizations and activities, and while I do have some free time, I can't necessarily devote it to helping you customize your layout. CSS really isn't that difficult to learn, and customizing is the easiest part. If you are in desperate need of help, check out one of the communities listed below, however they are only a handful of all the communities designed to help you with your layouts.

tutorialayouts, mintyhelp, everything_lj, s2howto, s2flexisquares, s2smoothsailing to name a few.

Hey! You're good with CSS, can you help me with this layout?
Not if I didn't make it, and not if its a customization issue. The only time I will help you with your layouts is if there are misalignments, or sizing issues, errors with the CSS, etc. But if you just want me to make your layout look pretty, I will not help. I will never help you customize a layout if I didn't personally create it. If the creator cannot help you, or if it is a basic stylesheet try checking the communities listed in the question above.

How can I add a header to this layout?
I do not create my layouts with a header in mind, therefore I will not help because I consider it a customization question. Like I said in the previous 2 questions, check the communities listed above if you would like help on issues I will not help with.

I need a sidebar, how can I put one on this layout?
Sometimes I may layouts without sidebars, most of the time it isn't because I don't like them it is because I think the layout looks best without one. Since this is a customization question, I will not help. Try the communities listed a few question above.

I use (insert browser here), and the layout looks bad, what can I do?
Well, first check to make sure you followed the installation instructions. If everything in the code is fine, then it might be the browser you are using. I typically work with Firefox, on a Mac, screen resolution 1280x1024. I do test my layouts in Chrome, IE, Safari, and Opera, however the layouts are not always guaranteed to work for every browser and resolution.

If you are an IE user, I suggest downloading firefox. It is free and one of the best browsers out there, much better than IE. As far as resolution goes, I do test my layouts in every resolution as well. The layout instructions/notes should inform you about which browser the layout works best in, and which resolution it looks best in. You can also use the live preview I provide with all my layouts as a way to test how the layout looks to you.

My layout doesn't work with ads?
Personally, I hate that LJ has ads, so I don't ever test my layouts with a Plus account in mind, however if you are really wanting to use a layout you can either downgrade to a basic account, upgrade to a paid account, or I can do what I can to alter the CSS to work with ads, but its not a guarantee.

I can't see the usernames on my friends page?
That is most likely because I hid them. Sometimes a layout looks better without them, however I understand how it can be a hassle not being able to see where these entries have been posted. If that is the case, there are a few things you can do:

First, find this section of the code in your CSS:
.userpicfriends {
position: relative;
float: left;
padding: 5px;
margin: 10px;
text-align: ;
border-style: solid;
border-width: 1px;
border-color: #919bad;
font-family: "Verdana", sans-serif;
font-size: 0px;
z-index: 15;
}

Then, where it says font-size: 0px; change 0 to some number higher than 8 (so the text will be readable instead of just visible). That should solve your problem. If you want to change the positioning of the text, find where it says text-align: ; and before the semi colon, add either left, right, or center. And that will change the positioning of the text under the userpic.

My metadata isn't showing up like yours in the preview?
Well, my first suggestion would be reading all of the information posted in the entry BEFORE you install the code because you need to make sure there aren't things you need to do or know prior to installing the layout. If you go back to the entry of the layout, it will have explained how to get your metadata like shown in the live preview, and since I provided links to tutorials on how to do that I will not help you. Everything is explained in those tutorials, and if you have questions or issues regarding the tutorial you should address them with the writer of the tutorial not me.

I hate having the option to repost the comments to Facebook, Twitter, etc. How can I remove this?
You can replace that with this spiffy little code:

.b-repost-item, FORM#qrform > TABLE[style="border: 1px solid black;"]:last-child TD[style="vertical-align: top; text-align: right;"]:first-child {display: none !important;}

If you are using one of my layouts, (which if you are viewing this FAQ page I hope that you are) you can insert this into a little section headed: /*-----disabled-----*/ where all of the other disabled, or non-appearing features are located, that way if a problem arises after you insert the code I can easily find the code in your layout, otherwise anywhere in the CSS will do.

I don't like the new (as of 2011) control strip, how do I get rid of it?
Well, it should be standard that I disable it on my layouts, but most of my older than 2011 layouts have the old control strip code. Like I said in the paragraph above I always include a disabled section in each of my layouts, find that section in the CSS and the very first item should be the control strip, change it from #lj_controlstrip to #lj_controlstrip_new. Leave everything else after that the same, so you don't un-disable something else. And that will remove the new control strip. I never customize these because I hate them, so please don't ask me to help you customize it because I will not.

[Insert feature here] is not showing up? Can you help?
I realized I have helped in the past, but from now on (Dec 7, 2010 - future) I will not. I know sometimes that the features (control strip, sidebar, userpics, usernames, etc.) I disable are something that you need/want in your layout but I disabled them for a reason. Please read through all the information provided in the entry post, I don't just do it to create extra work for myself, I do it so that you guys can be informed about the layout. So please don't comment here asking how to make something that I disabled for the layout show up. I realize not all of you may know CSS very well, but in my newer layouts I will be providing a 'disabled' section that lists all of the codes that are disabled for the layout. Find the section and find the one that you are looking for, typically the 'code name' is the same as its regular name. (ie - navigation/control strip is conveniently called #lj_controlstrip). If you are having trouble finding the feature you want, simply ask me what the code name of the feature is in the entry of the layout and I will tell you that way you will be able to find the code yourself but please do not comment here asking how to make some feature show up, i will not help you.

I have a concern regarding one of your layouts!!
I am always pleased when someone points out an issue to me. First check the 'features' section in the information guide that comes in each and every one of my layouts. It will tell you which features I have added (such as a hovering sidebar, or a fading images, etc.) That way you aren't telling me something that I already know, and that I can tell whether you read the information or not. If after reading the features section it still seems like its more of a issues rather than something that was intentional, then please leave me a comment in the entry and I will respond to you/fix the problem.

I've followed all your instructions, and searched through the FAQ but I'm still having issues?

01. Did you check the information guide in the original entry of the layout to make sure that your issue wasn't already addressed?
02. Did you read through the FAQ to try and find an answer to your question?
03. Is the layout installed properly?

Please make sure that you have first followed ALL the steps above. If that does still not solve your issues then you may ask a question but realize I will not answer if your question can be easily found in either the FAQ or information guide of the layout in the entry of the layout, if it is a customization issue, or if you have edited the CSS prior to asking a question.

Please also make sure that the layout is still installed on the account you say its installed on, because it will be rather more difficult for me to solve an issue I can't see/find.

Stylesheet:
Account the layout is installed on:
Browser you are using:
Screen resolution:
Have you edited the CSS?
