This looks promising.

It actually looks like he's uttering that line, why it's so amusing.

The musical is Bad Ass and the soundtrack is mesmerising if you could listen to it. I admit I was a little skeptical at first at the idea of Matilda being a musical (what next, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?) but I was proven wrong.

The Very Potter Musical was fanfic-style wincing. I generally hate musicals, TBH. The only clear exception is Fiddler on the Roof.

I watched AVPM and the two sequels for whatever reasons (well, the last one for Evanna Lynch, she did pretty good with the singing). Not bad, but I'm not a huge fan of them like so many others. Some things were done well and other things were quite amusing (I really like the idea of Draco being played by a girl, I don't know why) but then there were plenty of times where the audience was dying of laughter and I... wasn't, but instead cringing. I'm still trying to figure out what the huge hype is all about. I watched AVPM twice and am still confuddled.

I respect your opinion. For me, theatre is a second love after film and literature but it just really depends what it is because not all musicals are great or worth sitting through. Jesus Christ Superstar can be placed next to Fiddler on the Roof along with some others.

Oh my, you've never read Matilda? This is a must read book for everyone before they die! It's remarkable, I've practically grown up with it along with the very Americanised movie adaptation. While the book (term for stage script) for the musical varies slightly, the themes and the darker tone is all there. It's just one of those adaptations that didn't fail miserably, thankfully.

I have to get a hard copy of the soundtrack too one day. I've just been downloading the songs from YouTube as a temporary convenience. ;) While some of the tracks are a little too ''oldie Broadway'' for my taste it fits with the story so I generally like it. The young cast especially nails the quickly clever and sharp, difficult lyrics (like with ''Naughty'' and ''Revolting Children'').

Well, I would totally recommend this show to any theatre lover. ♥

Totally understand, love. I have a ''To Read'' list in queue so we'll both be busy.

No, it should be but it wasn't. It was just one of those novels I picked up for the heck of it out of boredom because everything else in the school library sucked ass. And I became an immediate fan of the novel over night. But then, I was really into Roald Dahl back then. I actually wasn't into Harry Potter, strangely enough. I think you'll really enjoy it. It's not fluffy either. I swear, the whole novel is nothing but child abuse and abandonment. Trunchbull is far worse than the Dursleys and Snape combined and the Chokey never failed to make me shit bricks.
