Sheesh what a week. I've been as busy as a bee with an unusually busy schedule!

Fight For Your Friday Flashback
Every morning I listen to the same radio station on the way to work, WSFM, or as my former team used to say, Old Bugger FM. It's hardly for old people, just plays a good mix of 60's, 70s, 80;s and a little early 90s. My favourite segment ( Read more... )

silly stuff, ffyff

By the time you get to my age, they're all child bands!

in the 60's, child band would be the Cowsills and 70's would be Partridge Family (but then they could be the same).

The Cowsills were a complete family band (siblings and mom), they inspiredide people to create the Partridge Family show.

i know there are other family/children groups before and since then, they popped in my head 1st

Aha - apparently The Partridge Family wasn't a legitimate child band because it had the mother in it (and wasn't David Cassidy in his early 20s?). The Jacksons were banned too because technically it had adults in it.

I never knew the world of child bands was so strict!

I have no idea how old David was, I was more or less going with the Cowsills, that lead to the creation of the Partidge Family. Cowsills were a real group, and a family, and kids (except their mom, so prolly not a childs band by someons standards) where Shirly Jones was Davids step-mother.

after doing a wilipedia search, the oldest jackson was still 18 when they were signed to Mowtown Records (Michael was 10). But with only 1 person playing guitar in the line up, would that make them a band? or just back up dancers/singers to Michael (who just happened to play a guitar).

I never realised that (even though now I think about it I clearly recall only seeing one Jackson with an instrument). I reckon that makes them backing singers...

And if the oldest was 18 isn't he classed as an adult?

What a minefield! lol

Musical Youth's 'Pass the Dutchie'... absolutely no doubt about it for me. It brings back tons of memories and for some reason when I hear it I remember sitting at home playing my coleco game system. It must have been in high rotation at the time LOL

I'm with you - I loved Pass the Dutchie lol
I remember them playing it live on the biggest kids show on TV when it was in the charts...someone must have forgotten to tell the BBC that it was apparently about smoking pot lol

Much as I am loathe to admit it, I have liked MmmBop since the first time I've heard it. It is my Twinkie, my guilty pleasure, my overly-sweet boxed wine. It's catchy, happy, and the sort of thing I like to vacuum the house to. Why do I like it? It makes me smile. :-)

Likewise - I'm not proud of it but it is infectious lol
