Prof Gotou said, "Kabuki is a continuous shift between reality, stage reality and fictional reality".

I think Kabuki catches my curiousity in ways other theatre forms have not managed to because of the ambiguity between character and actor. At some points in time, the story on stage seems almost insignificant in comparison to the actor on stage.
