Damn, I completely understand. I've been feeling pretty depressed for a long time now, AND I'm neurotically axious about everything. I have been doing something that has been helping me a lot (with out meds) I've been doing this cognitive behavior therapy workbook. It helps you change the way you think about things so you feel better. It sounds stupidly simple like it could never work, but it has really helped me to feel better about a lot of things. Its called the Feeling Good Hand Book, by Dr. David Burns. I know its stupid title, I almost didn't buy it bc the title was so dumb, but the book is not stupid, or cheezy or inspirational or anything most commonly associated with self helpy books. Its a set of ideas and tools to help you feel better. Litterally. I read it through the first time without doing any of the exercises and I kept crying and crying bc I recognized that the things I was thinking were harming me. Its not an easy thing to read or do, believe me, but I would take it any day over a medicine that just futzed ( ... )

just wanted to comment that one of my friends takes zoloft and it really does help him. he had to try about 6 different types of medications before he found the one that worked the best, but he's been on zoloft now for a long time and it's really helped him be able to enjoy his life.
