I read spoilers for Breaking Dawn.

Yes, I read spoilers for Breaking Dawn.

Yep, even with the book only a few days away, I read the spoilers. I couldn't help myself. They were right there, hiding just beneath a cut, calling to me, whisper, "...Read me...You know you want to...rEaD meEeEe!" And some part of my brain was like, "Better to read and be disappointed now, than to read and be disappoint later. That feeling that you have is the feeling you know these spoilers are probably going to be true..." That was before I read anything. (It was the same with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows)

Below the cut are SPOILERS, BIG ONES, for Breaking Dawn. I also talk about the House of Night books by PC and Kristin Cast in pretty specific details, especially Book 3 Chosen, so there's that. Probably quite spoilery if you haven't read that...

Of course, Bella gets pregnant while still human after having sex with the Vampire!Edward. Of course, the babe's name is Nessi. Of course, Jacob imprints on her. OF COURSE. I think know I read this in fic already (Theory -wip- on ff.net...well, without the part with Jacob imprinting, I think...still it's half-vampire?baby!fic, but this one is not that bad, actually, though it is still baby!fic)...except watch that fic handle it a million times better than SMeyer. It was silly to hope that it would end any other way, Twilight has always sounded something like not-exactly-great fanfiction...I'm telling you SMeyer a) sold her soul or b) knows voodoo to get us all to like it...

When I first read these spoiler, I totally could not believe what I was reading and agreed with others trying to disprove it (DENIAL). I couldn't believe it would end so badly. But then I remember DH, and how those spoilers were true and I got Pissed (ANGER) that these were true too. Then I was like praying to God (BARGAINING) to have it not be true, but then I was, "Damn, nevermind, that wouldn't work, it's already been printed out and a bunch have trees have already died for that, and it's not worth more beautiful, innocent trees..." After which I was like, "What-EVS. I don't care anymore about this book AT ALL." (DEPRESSION). And finally I have decided that there were only so many ways this story was going to end, and of those, only some many would actually occur to SMeyer. There was never a time that everyone would be happy with the ending, and what can we do now to change it anyways? I'm okay with this (ACCEPTANCE).

...Unless, obviously, Carlisle, Esme, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, or Jasper♥ die. And I am just going to throw in Embry, Sam, and Seth♥. None of them are allowed to die. If even one of them dies, I will kill someone. Probably a lot of someones. Do what you will with Edward, Jacob, Bella, Nessi, but not the others listed above. They are not allowed to die!

I've also partly already moved on, the to-be-released Untamed, anyone? Book four in the House of Night series by PC CAST and Kristin Cast? Now those gals know Teen Vampire Romances. [* HOUSE OF NIGHT SPOILER ALERT *] I mean in Book 3 Chosen, they had their lead have 3 boyfriends at the same time, and then break the imprint with BF#1 (causing him excruciating pain in the process) by having sex and imprinting with BF#3, only to be caught in some post-coital cuddling (and starting to have sex again) by BF#2. And BF#3 is revealed to have slept with her only because Neferet, the lead's teacher/advisor/basically-headmistress, wanted to isolate her from all her friends because she is a bad guy. And it works. By the end of Book 3 BF#3 is killed, decapitated and pinned the school's front door and none of her friends at the school are friends anymore. BF#2 knows that Neferet's bad, but he also has completed the change to full vamp and still doesn't trust the lead.  That's some good teenage vampire drama right there. And unlike Twilight, the kids curse(-ish), they don't stop at closed-mouth kisses. (On the lead's first day she sees a girl who will be her enemy/frenemy/friend trying to go down on the boy who will become BF#2) There are gay characters that aren't particularly...camp, they have crushes on Sean William Scott and Kenny Chesney (blerg) and they get excited to see 300 in IMAX. Also, I mean really, they said out-right in the first book that vampires cannot reproduce at all thanks to The Change. [* END HOUSE OF NIGHT SPOILER ALERT *] If those two ladies betray my confidence, which I don't think they will, I will pitch a fit. And I will un-friend PC Cast on Facebook.

But back to Breaking Dawn...
Fanfic cliché?  Hell Yes, search any form/combination of 'bella, edward, pregnant, baby' on fanfiction.net.
Predictable? Yep, we all should have seen it coming continents away (basically from Twilight).
Will I read it? *breathes* Yes, I now that I've thought on it and calmed down, and I can't really leave book series undone like that.
Still going to the Borders release? Yeah, it's one of my only "social" events of the summer besides hanging with Meghan and Erica, which I do all the time so it doesn't really count (Love you guys!). I've never been to a midnight release of anything, I imagine with school and eventually work the chances of attending one will grow harder and I am going to take this one.

Am going to go read Ironside by Holly Black aka blackholly on LJ. (Who is always awesome. ALWAYS.)

bookseries: house of night, bookseries: a modern faerie tale, bookseries: twilight, bookseries: harry potter, borders, spoilers
