Awwww! This is a sweet chapter and a good opening! Feel a little sorry for River tho - Jayne's attitude would confuse her easily, esp if he's wanting kids (hell that little conundrum confuses me too - so not the right word, but hey). Can't wait for more!

The way I see it, he loves her, wants to be with her, but doesn't want to hurt her (or him either) in the process. It's the typical protective male instinct...

Remember he can't pull a fast one over on her - she can read his mind.

Thanks! I really enjoyed writing that first kiss. Sweet and tender.

The flirting's pretty fun to write, too, trying to use their phrases and idioms.

Methinks that River might change Jayne's mind on the no marriage issue, her and the indomitable Ma Cobb....

That’s what I love about them, they are such flirts! More so then any canon couple.

I knew Ma Cobb would have her say in the matter!
