November is Here

I had a migraine on Saturday so I took some headache medicine during the day--two doses, six hours apart, as per instructions on the bottle. Since then, I've had stomach pains that have made it hard to sleep. Not completely positive that the two are related, but empirical evidence suggests that a painkillers affect me badly. I really need to ( Read more... )

Caffeine can counteract migraines. Depends on what kind you have, but it has something to do with the blood vessels constricting or your blood thinning of somesuch.

Caffeine? jaymark108 November 3 2009, 13:09:27 UTC
Sucks... I hate coffee... don't like soft drinks (or whatever they call it in the Northeast)... Think most tea is icky...

What else has caffeine in it? Chocolate does, right?

Soda is pretty much it, but soft drink is the less slangy term.

Pop is the bullshit grandpa term. Soda always seemed to describe the feel and taste of carbonated crap the best, whereas pop doesn't even count since the bottles don't have the old style of cap.

Chocolate's amount of caffeine may be negligible.

Actually, how the Hell do you and I have similar tastes in beverages? Maybe I should be asking YOU for recommendations on alcohol since no one else comprehends my love of nothing but water and chocolate milk.

If you check the map, you'll notice that Missouri is something of a battleground state when it comes to soft drink slang.

Now, let's be sure that our tastes ARE similar...

When I have to get something to drink at a fast food resturant, I get their carbonated orange drink if they have one, and lemonade if not, and if it comes down to it I'll either settle for Mountain Dew (or as it's known nowadays, "Mtn Dew") or drink water.

At home, I drink kool-aid (grape, cherry, or orange flavor), orange juice, and sometimes milk or plain water.

As for alcoholic stuffs... I always forget and I have to ask my wife. I'll get back to you. :)

I also didn't get a single trick or treater. I was bummed, too. What is it with kids these days?

I'm an expert on migraines...let me know if you want any advice. After trying everything under the sun (prescription and OTC) what I do now is take 600mg of ibuprofin with a soda ASAP when I get one.

It's not a miracle cure, but it works as well or better than anything I've tried, and it doesn't cause rebound headaches (plus I don't think it would upset your stomach).

Maybe trick or treat is falling out of vogue with the youngsters? I hear that more and more the big sales are with adult costumes (and by adult I mean...)

I liked the original series, so someone told me I need to see the new FMA series. Have you heard anything about it?

What I've heard is that it follows the manga much more closely. (The anime follows the manga for the first half, and then goes in a completely different direction about the time they introduce Dante--who isn't in the manga at all).

I wonder if it's for better or for worse.

Still, I'm not going to start another anime any time soon. Still making my way through Macross.
