My two poems that were published in this semester's Windfall? The same two poems I read in the poetry slams we went to. Wrong genre, I guess

Eep, brains mature at 25? Does that mean mine's as good as it's going to get? Do you think grad school will make it better? (I kid!)
Funny about rules-- I like them too. I find RP rulebooks fascinating, if impossible to remember when needed. Kinda like how in writing, I like building histories, races, magic systems a whole lot more than I actually like finishing thing... Hmm..
Who knows, there may be a great job opportunity in the rule system writing genre for you! Something to find out about, perhaps.
Entirely off topic, I have an odd request for you that IS related to grad school and my desire to attend it. If I catch you online I will pounce and ask, otherwise I will email. I hope you don't mind. ^^;;
If I have a ruleset large enough, I'll just read it a few times, for fun and reference. Arkham Horrow I read twice and still didn't catch everything that my friend Simon did.
Don't misinterpret the Professor's power, it's very easy to. Don't play as the Private Eye, he makes the game too easy.
Well, I've told you Josh...your poems are amazing...they just aren't all dirty or even with that certain tone that they think the poems need to have. I believe 100% that it was just the wrong genre for the idiots that were at the Poetry slam...
Glad you enjoyed reading the directions. I dno't have the patience for that sort of thing. LOL. Hopefully you will be able to explain it to me. ;)
Your friend who mentions role-playing games is right about their rules and designs. Pick up the core rulebooks for Dungeons & Dragons, or maybe the old 2nd edition AD&D rulebooks. Take a gander at the old and new rulebooks for The World of Darkness or pick up the GURPS or Rifts corebooks. See what you think. If you dig rulesets and the creations of miniworlds and simulations, I'd love to see what you'd get out of them.
Heck, maybe you should even look into Warhammer or Confrontation or even War Machine rulesets for miniature wargaming. Talk about simulations! Absolutely fascinating stuff how they try to simulate military conflict.
At least it might give you ideas and get your brain thinking. At best, who knows where new avenues might lead to?
I grew up on 1st edition AD&D, and I was really impressed by what I read of 2nd edition. My buddy Shaun could tell you that I'm more interested in reading rulebooks than playing RPGs--the last time he visited, I spent half the time reading his old copy of Vampire: The Masquerade. I've also read BESM 2nd edition, D20 BESM (yuck!), D20 Modern, some of Paranoia, and a little bit of one of the versions of GURPS.
