The Bunya Mountains

So, last Thursday I went to the Bunya Mountains with the Gin Club. It was BLISSFUL, except for Friday night when we found out about Japan. That was completely horrifying. And still is.

Back to the bliss:

The drive out there was nice, moving back through the Darling Downs into the Granite Belt which always feels like home country for me. Dirt and ( Read more... )

The "nuts" are freaking ginormous and if one fell on your head, you'd probably die.

I'd expect no less from Australia. ;)

Lovely pictures, and the graffiti was pretty cool, too. Did you know that in my field, (Folklore) they call that "latrinalia"? :D

A fairly good link on them.

Heh!

Latrinalia is very nifty. I didn't know that!

These pictures very much make me regret that I can't afford a trip to Australia right now. Especially since there's about 6 inches of snow on the ground here today.

I will indeed.

And I must go to places that will allow me to see wallabies and koalas up close. And I have the fantasy that someday I will dive on the Great Barrier Reef despite all the things out there that are capable of killing me.

I too am envious about your trip, and wishing I could have gone. (But that's the big thing I'm looking forward to with getting that one huge credit card debt out of the way: Freeing up enough income to be finally able to afford that trip to Australia! A couple of years to take care of the debt, and then give me a few more months to knock out whatever's left on the mid-sized card and maybe save up a bit more...)

It hasn't even had much time to really affect my finances yet, but just the idea of it has been so happy-making. It's really been a weight on my mind for years and now I'm letting it go!
