whoa, whoa.

whoa.

are you saying Jesus did NOT preach the gospel of Zeppelin Rules???

WHERE IS MY GOD NOW?

Jesus's hardcore love of the arts (and with no sarcasm, i bet he'd change the face of the earth if he played guitar) aside now, really I never understood the anti-contemporary infighting among denominations. If we have two people who live by the formula

jesus = son of God
died = for your sins
God = almighty and revered

then why do some of them have to go to hell because they put their hands together funny when they say it? or because they wear a different hat? or any damn little thing...

"YOU CAN'T GLORIFY THE LORD IN DENIM YOU HOOLIGANS."

wtf, is all. dignity, sure, but every little idiosyncracy causing damnation? i'm just glad you're not one of those.

The people who speak to Jay in this medium on this topic AND who disagree with him consists solely of me, and sometimes Ryan. I was clarifying my position to avoid a strawman argument. And Jay did write "I have been told by a couple people on this campus that if I participate in contemporary worship that I am going to hell.", so my explaining my position may have been beneficial to those who don't know me beyond that I disagree with Jay and am on the same campus as him.

I was gonna say, you did a nice job of articulating your thoughts without offending people. The anonymous comment was uncalled for, and thus I plan on deleting it.

Disclaimer: The following does NOT represent my views, in fact I find most of this article elitist and wrong. I am, however presenting it for Jay because the author is a member of Jay's tradition (not mine) and I hope it is evidence for Jay, with statements he can agree to, that his NT teacher's statement that the "how" of worship is adiophoral is incorrect, at least in that it is in conflict with historical Lutheranism. That said, I'm sure I'll get some moron trying to say I'm stupid because of what this guy said.Well, Jay, here is that article I mentioned earlier. It's "In Defense of Historical Worship" by Rev. Sean L. Rippy, an LCMS pastor. As I said above, I don't agree with a lot of his statements, but you would be more likely to, being a Lutheran. I agree with his overall statement that Scripture does mandate some things in worship, but besides that I'm presenting this for your benefit and not to argue with you about it (if you want to disagree with some of it, I'll probably be with you on it). Due to space, I'm only ( ... )
