I'm probably late to the party on this, but I've always had trouble making sense of the internal contradictions in Frost's The Road Not Taken.  He says that the road he chose had "perhaps the better claim, because it was grassy and wanted wear", but then contradicts that with the disclaimer "though, as for that, the passing there had worn them ( Read more... )

Yeah. Much like the unironic quoting of "Good fences make good neighbors," the generations of valedictorians unironically quoting TRNT cracks me up.

Nicely topical, though. :-)
